UK business leaders have gathered in London to explore the key policy initiatives emerging from China's recent Two Sessions in Beijing and potential opportunities for UK-China trade.

The event, titled China in Springtime: Global Dialogue, provided a chance for discussions on ways to expand economic collaboration between the two nations.

The overarching message of the event was clear: China will continue to open its doors wider to the world. This sentiment was echoed by high-profile speakers, including His Excellency Zheng Zeguang, China's Ambassador to the UK, who highlighted the strategic opportunities available to British businesses in light of China's recent economic policies.

00:00China will continue to open its doors wider to the world.
00:04That was the message to UK business executives at the China in Springtime Global Dialogue in London.
00:10High-profile speakers, including His Excellency Zheng Zheguang, Chinese ambassador to the UK,
00:16outlined key opportunities for British companies following China's recent two sessions in Beijing.
00:21Strengthen cooperation in trade, new energy, climate change, psychic innovation, education, culture and other fields.
00:32We should create new highlights of our cooperation, especially in financial services, clean energy and AI.
00:41The event attracted British entrepreneurs eager to strengthen ties with the world's second largest economy.
00:47We have recently signed a deal to basically be stocked in a luxury department store in Suzhou.
00:56I think for small businesses, we really need to be looking at China.
01:01We are but a small island and we need to look outwards and I think China is the future.
01:06International partnerships depend on renewal hope and mutual respect.
01:13It also welcomed high-profile industry figures who argued the case for closer ties.
01:18I think it's a two-way street. We have a lot to learn from China, particularly about retail fintech,
01:23where they've got two very large platforms and a couple of others that make it easy for them to bring out retail products.
01:28But when it comes to wholesale products, London is really the core of that.
01:31I believe there's a lot that we can do with the Chinese in the wholesale markets, insurance, reinsurance,
01:36what we're also doing in terms of central bank digital currencies and currency baskets.
01:41So there's a heck of a lot to cooperate on and it's great to have this sort of conference about dialogues in the springtime.
01:47It comes as Ding Xuesheng, China's vice-premier, told British Energy Secretary Ed Miliband in Beijing
01:54that China is willing to deepen cooperation across financial services, trade and investment,
01:59as well as green and low-carbon development.
02:02Events like this one help to strengthen the message that China is very much open for business
02:07and keen to cultivate new growth drivers, with green and digital tech just two of many important areas.
02:15As both countries navigate shifting global dynamics, UK business leaders are now looking beyond dialogue,
02:21focusing on real opportunities to drive trade and investment.
02:25And the appeal of doing business with China is clear.
