00:12the chronic flight delay category, which the U.S. Department of Transport defines as a
00:17flight that operates at least 10 times per month and arrives more than 30 minutes late
00:23over 50% of the time. The site reiterates this includes cancelled or diverted flights
00:29and airlines can be fined if they continue to operate this unrealistic scheduling practice.
00:35More than 5 out of the 10 most chronically delayed flights in the U.S. for 2024 included
00:41Newark Airport. In the first-ever enforcement action for chronic flight delays, the DOT
00:47fined JetBlue Airways $2 million in January for operating multiple chronically delayed
00:53flights and failing within a suitable time frame to make imperative schedule adjustments
00:58to reduce respective delays.
