00:22First of all, fellow countrymen, President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. led the oath-taking ceremony
00:28of the Local Amnesty Board of Eastern Visayas in his visit to Tacloban City.
00:34In his speech, the President said that the ceremony is a great progress towards the efforts to maintain peace.
00:43Our President promised continuous support for the peace process
00:48and said that unity can be achieved despite differences in politics.
00:54Our President also emphasized that now that there is an amnesty board,
00:58there is a mechanism for the law to be repealed and implemented for those who have been in the state for a long time.
01:05The President believes that the amnesty board members have been waiting for a long time
01:10to ensure that the peace process that started back then will continue.
01:17According to President R. Marcos, Jr., this is the reason why the government and the former rebels
01:24need to work together for the good of the country and the good of our country.
01:29He has been asking the President for a long time to complete the amnesty board and finally this has happened.
01:35The Local Amnesty Board is conducting initial eligibility assessments
01:40and is passing recommendations to the National Amnesty Commission of the NAC
01:45for the application of the amnesty of former rebels who are open to reintegration into the mainstream society.
01:53This is a step to achieve a long-term peace for those who have been affected by the insurgency.
02:04The NAC is establishing the Local Amnesty Board throughout the country.
