Ukraine won’t join NATO anytime soon, possibly never, as both Biden and Trump have ruled it out, former US Deputy Secretary of Defense for Europe and NATO Jim Townsend says.

00:00Ukraine has agreed to the 30-day ceasefire deal proposed by the U.S.

00:05Russia has previously presented three truce demands.

00:09One of them is no NATO membership for Kiev.

00:13Now, will NATO refuse Ukraine membership after this?

00:18And how secure are other European countries from Russia?

00:23Well, I think NATO has said, and the United States has said,

00:26even during the Biden administration,

00:28that they weren't ready for NATO yet.

00:31But I think Donald Trump has come in,

00:33and he's already said that NATO membership

00:36was off the table for Ukraine.

00:38So it doesn't look like Ukraine will get into NATO

00:43anytime soon, or if at all.

00:45So that's, I think Putin will probably get what he wants

00:49in terms of no Ukraine in NATO.
