00:06at Penang International Airport earlier this week, has been fined RM100 by the Balik Pulau

00:12Magistrate's Court.

00:15Magistrate Chia Huey Ting meted out the fine on 64-year-old Ng Kok Yao, who pleaded guilty

00:20to the charge on Friday.

00:22According to the charge sheet, Ng told a Malaysia Airlines employee at the check-in counter

00:27that there was a bomb in his friend's bag, despite knowing such words would disrupt

00:32order.

00:33He was charged under Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act, 1955, for insulting behaviour

00:40with intent to cause a breach of the peace.

00:43In court, Ng's lawyer from the National Legal Aid Foundation, Hazrul Ikram Roza Khan, noted

00:50that his client had saved court time and expenses by pleading guilty.

00:54He also mentioned that Ng works as a trader earning RM1,000 and has two dependent children.

01:01However, Deputy Public Prosecutor R Lushani urged the court to impose the maximum fine,

01:08emphasising that such actions cannot be treated as a joke, especially in high-security areas
