00:18Just a few hours ago here in the Philippines,
00:22the chartered plane that was brought to the former President Rodrigo Duterte landed at the Rotterdam Airport in The Hague, Netherlands.
00:31It was immediately turned over to the custody of the Judicial Cooperation Unit of the Office of Registry of the International Criminal Court.
00:39The former President was brought to the ICC Detention Center in Scheveningen
00:44where he will remain while being prosecuted.
00:47According to ICC Prosecutor Karim Khan,
00:51since Duterte is now in the custody of the ICC,
00:55the next phase of his prosecution will begin
00:58regarding the crimes he is facing against humanity.
01:02It's important to underline as we now start a new stage of proceedings
01:08that Mr. Duterte is presumed innocent.
01:12He will make his initial appearance before the court soon
01:16and the focus of the office is on the judicial proceedings
01:22and on proving his case before the judges of the International Criminal Court.
01:27The criminal responsibilities of the former President were given by Duterte from 2011 to 2019
01:34as well as the leadership of the Davao Death Squad and the Madugong War on Drugs under his administration.
02:05The ICC Prosecutor considered the arrest of the former President
02:11as important not only for the ICC but also for the victims of the War on Drugs.
02:17According to the order of the Department of Foreign Affairs,
02:21the former President was released by the Philippine Embassy in The Hague
02:26because it was a beautiful winter in Europe
02:29and the embassy gave cold clothes and care packages to the former President and his associates.
02:36The Dutch Immigration Authorities gave a 15-day visa to former Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea
02:44as he will serve as Duterte's counsel
02:47and he will also be allowed to visit the former President in the detention center.
02:53A two-day visa was granted to his nurse and aide.
02:58The ICC also gave the names and contact numbers of the officials of the Philippine Embassy
03:05in case they need consular assistance.
