00:17Under the leadership of President Bongbong Marcos and British Foreign Secretary David Lamy,

00:22the importance of the Philippine-UK Joint Framework Agreement was discussed,

00:27which is central to the cooperation between the two countries

00:30to strengthen the defense and maritime security of the Philippines.

00:35In the exclusive interview of GMA Integrated News,

00:38David Lamy highlighted the discussions of the President,

00:42such as the importance of international law,

00:45the position of the Philippines when it comes to Ukraine,

00:48and the special relationship between the Philippines and the United States

00:51in the midst of the policies of the Trump administration.

00:55Both nations that believe in the rules-based order,

00:58and we were reflecting on these tough geopolitical times,

01:03challenges here in the South China Seas,

01:05but also the war in Ukraine,

01:08our special relationship with the United States of America,

01:12and the powerful people-to-people links that our countries share.

01:16The Philippines and the UK are in disagreement

01:19over China's aggressive actions in the South China Sea.

01:24Secretary Enrique Manalo and Secretary Lamy also discussed

01:28the possibility of a Visiting Forces Agreement in the UK,

01:33such as the VFA of the Philippines and the United States,

01:36and the RAA or Reciprocal Access Agreement in Japan.

01:41It's still a possibility.

01:42I think the general talks, but nothing firm yet,

01:46but certainly that could be something in the horizon.

01:49They also strengthened their agreement on the economy.

01:53We are committed to maximize the potential of partnership

01:56with the United Kingdom on offshore wind farms in the country.

02:00Currently, the UK is the country with the largest foreign direct investment,

02:05or FDI, in the Philippines.
