It’s that time of year once again and the blood moon is on the horizon. A total lunar eclipse is set to happen next week on the night of the 13th and into the morning of the 14th.

00:13The event occurs when the Sun, Earth, and Moon all line up, with our planet casting

00:17a red hue onto the lunar face.

00:19But why red?

00:20That's due to the Sun's long red waves passing through the Earth's atmosphere, filtering

00:24out the other color waves.

00:26In fact, it's the same reason that sunsets are red and orange.

00:29The Blood Moon will be viewable in all contiguous 48 states, and all you have to do is walk

00:33outside and find the Moon in the sky, weather permitting.

00:36These events only happen around once every 1.5 years as well, and you need to be on the

00:41right side of the Earth at the right time to see it, meaning you'll want to check this

00:44one out.

00:45Experts say totality should start at around 11.26pm on the West Coast or 2.26am East Coast

00:51Thursday, March 13th, with the whole thing lasting for around 65 minutes.
