00:00President Ferdinand R. Marquez Jr. introduced the LGUs and some individuals

00:05who have a role to play in the promotion of nutrition programs

00:09that serve a healthy community.

00:21Princess, in the 2024 National Nutrition Awarding Ceremony

00:27President Ferdinand R. Marquez Jr. gave the importance of nutrition

00:31as a foundation of a strong and prosperous country.

00:39In the leadership of the National Nutrition Council,

00:41the 23 local governments and 5 local nutrition focal points were recognized

00:49for their outstanding contribution in improving nutrition in their respective areas.

00:54According to President Ferdinand R. Marquez Jr.,

00:57malnutrition should not have a negative effect on the future of the youth and the economy of the country.

01:04Malnutrition exists at alarming levels across different stages of life throughout our country.

01:11And this has multifarious effects.

01:14It has brought deleterious effects on the cognitive development and the future of our children.

01:20It has contributed to our children falling behind in their education.

01:28As a result, the government launched various programs to combat hunger and malnutrition.

01:34Some of these are the Food Stamp Program under Walang Gutom 2027

01:40where families in need can receive a Php 3,000 food credit every month.

01:47The expanded Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program of 4Ps

01:51where families in need can receive a Php 350 monthly aid for children ages 0 to 2.

01:59The Department of Health, Department of Agriculture, and Department of Social Welfare and Development

02:08were among the programs that the local government launched.

02:12The mayors and governors were able to raise sufficient funds

02:15for their annual investment plan.

02:21I have directed the DILG to ensure that healthcare and nutrition are included

02:26as a priority indicator in our seal of good local governance.

02:31We are looking again at the criteria that is being examined when granting the seal of local government

02:39and I insisted that healthcare be part of that.

02:42Healthcare in terms of nutrition, healthcare in terms of vaccination,

02:46in terms of access to health services.

02:51These are the things that are very, very important.

02:58Princess, the President once again reminded us that the well-being of the citizens

03:02is not only dependent on the right food,

03:04but also on a clean environment, a good community, and a disciplined way of life.
