Election eve polls indicate WA Labor to take third term in government

It's election eve in Western Australia, where voters will soon decide if WA Labor deserves a third term in government, as the polls are indicating.

00:00Well, it's one more sleep until WA votes, and the choice is between Roger Cook's incumbent

00:07Labor government, they currently hold 53 of the 59 seats in State Parliament after Mark

00:13McGowan led the party to a history-making landslide victory in 2021, and the Liberals

00:19and Nationals, who have a mountain to climb.

00:23And while the polls are showing a big swing back to the conservative side of politics,

00:28it's unlikely going to be enough to overthrow Labor's dominance.

00:32The Premier says they're taking nothing for granted, while Libby Metton, the Liberal leader,

00:36says she can defy the odds and win on Saturday.

00:40The Cook Labor government have their priorities all wrong, and we've seen that with a project

00:46for Metronet, which was meant to be $3 billion, it blew out to over $13 billion.

00:51The fact under this government we've had the highest rate of spending in 15 years.

00:56WA Labor has a comprehensive plan to deliver cost of living relief to all Western Australians.

01:02And in this election, we've committed to another $1 billion in cost of living relief measures

01:07to make sure that we take the burden off West Aussie families that are doing it tough.

01:12The top issues for voters heading into this election are the cost of living, health and

01:17housing affordability, WA Labor promising a billion dollars worth of spending on cost

01:23of living relief, while the Liberals have been focusing heavily on fixing the state's

01:28health system by slashing ambulance ramping hours and cutting elective surgery wait times.

01:35More than 20% of WA voters have already made up their minds, with more than 380,000 pre-poll

01:41votes cast already.
