‘There’s nothing special anymore’: has Easter lost its sparkle?

We’re talking to people around Cardiff for their thoughts on Easter, and whether Easter isn’t quite the same as it used to be.

00:00Well, not really, cos I've got no family or children or grandchildren or anything,

00:05but I buy people easter eggs and that sort of thing.

00:07This is somewhere else ridiculous.

00:09You get over Christmas, they're starting easter eggs already, aren't they?

00:14Well, it's all falling away, isn't it?

00:16That's been like over the years, you know, everything's commercialised,

00:19so we've lost all that and it'll never come back, it'll never get that back.

00:25You know, as soon as you finish one, they're trying to get another one in,

00:28isn't they? There's nothing special about it any more.

00:31No, not at all.

00:34I'm very rarely down the city centre.

00:39I used to work as a salesman, and Easter to me meant

00:44commission, selling beds, furniture, this and that.

00:48Many people work over Easter, Easter sales.

00:52To myself, no, I'm not bothered.

00:56Bothered? Yes.
