Woman turns office into Harry Potter haven with Gryffindor desk and owl lectern

A woman has converted her office space into a Harry Potter haven - complete with a Gryffindor-themed desk and a replica of Dumbledore's lectern.   Carla Rodriguez, 32, has been a Harry Potter fan since the first film came out more than 20 years ago.   It took more than two years to convert her office space into a Harry Potter-themed sanctuary where she can work.  The renovation included the installation of bookshelves, wrapping the ceiling in midnight sky wallpaper, just like the Hogwarts Great Hall, and removing the carpeted floor to replace it with tiles.  The shelves were filled with Carla's collection including character figurines from the famed books and a collection of 10 Hogwarts castle miniatures.   The couple also added a rail ladder, just like in the Hogwarts library, and a Gryffindor-themed desk with a tapestry, emulating scenes from the Gryffindor common room.  And last year for Carla's birthday, her husband drove all the way to Chicago to pick up a replica of Dumbledore's lectern.

00:00So you want to know how we did our Harry Potter office. First step we changed the office flooring

00:04from carpet to tile and then we bought six Ikea bookshelves and a contractor built a wood frame

00:08around it. I found this big wood bookshelf in Facebook marketplace and I knew it would be

00:13perfect for special pieces. Then the rail and ladder were installed and I decorated the shelves

00:17with my Harry Potter collection. Then we added wallpaper and paint for the trim and added stars

00:22and floating candles. We also added a fireball to the ceiling. Then my husband drove all the

00:27way to Chicago to pick up the owl lectern for my birthday last year. And then for Christmas this

00:34year we took everything out of the office and painted it in naval and Moscow midnight and

00:38showroom green. We added this rug that we have been getting in a bigger size. We added this

00:43couch and it's kind of how in which everyone loves to take naps. We added some curtains,

00:48some lighting, and a beauty card for quarantine and this beautiful tapestry from Francis Jones

00:53because I'm a Gryffindor, not a Raven. We added a desk that I found in Facebook marketplace

00:58so it has a desk and a computer. It is an office. Then I ordered the stealing medallion from Pepsi

01:03and had the light fixture changed to the constellation lamp from Pony Pantene.
