00:00A year ago, we visited a rural village in Zambia

00:03where there was no electricity, limited water,

00:06high crime rates, and countless other issues

00:09making life a constant struggle for these kids and staff.

00:12But despite the seemingly hopeless situation,

00:14there was someone doing everything she could to help these children.

00:18Meet Dora.

00:18Five years ago, she moved to Mapapa along with four adopted children

00:22and started making TikTok videos to raise money to build a school

00:25and village for kids in desperate need.

00:27And very quickly, her account grew to over 4 million followers.

00:31And she now cares for almost 400 children.

00:34You are amazing. Thank you, and I love you.

00:38But despite her best efforts, the cost of supporting all these kids

00:41is an ongoing challenge and threat to their community.

00:46So we immediately got to work alongside our partners from Give Power

00:50to build a solar array that would provide the village

00:52with much-needed electricity and security.

00:55And for many of the children, this was the first time they saw light at night.

01:05But when we left the village,

01:10we realized that there was so much more that needed to be done.

01:13We were so moved by Dora and the kids

01:15that we committed to double our contribution

01:17to give Dora the resources she needs

01:20to give these kids a loving and safe environment

01:23by tripling her solar generation capacity,

01:26doing a full hydrological study

01:27to provide a proper well with plenty of clean, safe water,

01:31install a state-of-the-art internet network,

01:33and so much more.

01:34And because of your incredible support,

01:36we were able to kick off this massive project

01:38by constructing a well.

01:39And this is just the first of so many things

01:46we will be doing in this video.

01:48For so many of the children,

01:49this is the first time that they will have fresh drinking water,

01:52and it now flows in abundance.

01:58But sadly, there was one child

02:13who couldn't join in on the fun

02:15because she was still recovering from an injury.

02:17This is Beauty.

02:19So the last time that Dora and Dora were here,

02:22they were made aware about a girl called Beauty.

02:25She's one of my girls here.

02:26When she came to us,

02:28she was a very shy, timid girl.

02:30One of her legs had gangrene

02:32and was about to be amputated.

02:35We told Dora that we would take

02:36whatever steps were necessary

02:38to save Beauty's leg.

02:39We got the pictures

02:40and we got the treatment protocol.

02:42And we sent them to our friends at Cure International

02:44from the video we did in the Philippines

02:46who also operate a hospital in Zambia.

02:48They told us that it was very likely

02:50that Beauty was going to lose her leg.

02:51But if we didn't act immediately,

02:54there was a good chance

02:55that she would lose her life.

02:56Cure agreed to take her case

02:58and despite the dismal odds,

03:00they promised to do everything

03:01that they possibly could

03:03to save Beauty's leg.

03:04We stayed at the hospital for three months.

03:07They did three operations on her.

03:09While Beauty was in the hospital,

03:11the team back in Mapapa

03:13made incredible progress

03:14with the rest of the construction.

03:16Hey guys, I miss you so much.

03:19They have such a great environment for kids

03:22and they just took her out of that shell of fear

03:26and just told her to say,

03:27hey, you'll be okay.

03:28So, who's your favorite teacher?

03:30She's a child.

03:32Very nice.

03:33It's been an amazing experience

03:35to kind of see her transform

03:37into what she is now.

03:41A few weeks after her final surgery,

03:43Beauty was able to leave the hospital.

03:45Who is discharged?

03:48She just slowly changed

03:50into this bubbly, fun, talkative girl.

03:54Yes, I have been enjoying this.

03:56It's been amazing.

03:58It's been really great.

04:04I'm able to feed all the kids here

04:07through my videos on social media,

04:09but that was a big challenge for me to do

04:12because I had to drive about an hour and a half away

04:15from where I live almost each day

04:17to buy the food that we have.

04:19Since our last visit,

04:21when we saw how old and unreliable Dora's car was,

04:24I'd been really concerned

04:25that she'd break down on the remote roads in Zambia

04:27without even having as much as cell phone coverage.

04:31My worst fears were realized one morning

04:33when I was woken up by a message from Dora

04:35telling me that she had just been in a wreck

04:38and her car was totaled.

04:39Darren wasted no time

04:41and quickly jumped on a call with her.

04:42Hey, Dora.

04:47Hi.

04:48How are you doing?

04:49I'm doing good now.

04:50I'm doing good.

04:51I think that this is a sign

04:53that we better buy you a new car right now.

04:55I want you to go look for a car.

04:57We will pay for it next week.

05:10With her new car,

05:12Dora can now travel to get food for the village

05:14without any worry of breaking down

05:16and being left stranded.

05:23Just a few weeks later,

05:24the construction was almost complete

05:26and Dan and Darren were on their way to Mapapa

05:28to see just how much the village has changed

05:30since their last visit.

05:33Dan and Darren are about to return

05:35and I'm super excited to show them

05:37all the amazing things

05:38that have been happening

05:39at the school because of them.

05:41Oh my God.

05:43Reuniting with Dora and the kids

05:45after nearly a year

05:46was a truly magical experience.

05:49After receiving a warm welcome by the kids,

05:51Dora showed Dan and Darren around the well.

05:53We now have clean drinking water

05:55and because of that,

05:57the kids' confidence has risen.

05:59We don't have skin infections.

06:00We don't have diarrhea anymore.

06:03Where they sleep,

06:04their clothes,

06:04everything.

06:05Their confidence has just grown up

06:07because they're in a clean, safe environment.

06:10With clean water,

06:11the village is now far more self-sufficient.

06:14Dora is able to grow vegetables in a garden,

06:16cultivate a chicken coop,

06:18and even sustain a fish pond

06:19to provide food for the kids.

06:21And on top of that,

06:22we also provided Dora and the kids

06:24a commercial gas stove

06:25so they no longer have to burn

06:27through bags of charcoal for cooking.

06:30But there was one more thing

06:31that was severely impacting Dora's ability

06:33to take care of these kids.

06:35In order to upload a TikTok,

06:37Dora would have to stand for hours

06:38holding her pole up

06:39to get an internet connection.

06:41But now with the new solar grid,

06:42we can put in a brand new

06:44Starlink Wi-Fi router.

06:45That has literally been installed today

06:48and I am super happy

06:50and super excited about that.

06:51We can connect to eat together

06:53for the first time.
