00:00President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. believes the semiconductor industry in the Philippines has great potential,

00:06especially by strengthening integrated circuit or IC design in cheap manufacturing.

00:12During a courtesy call with officials from Amcor Technology Incorporation,

00:16the president highlighted the company's significant role in expanding the industry.

00:22The government aims to elevate the sector from simple fabrication to IC design

00:28to increase the value of imported products.

00:31Amcor Technology Philippines, established in 1989,

00:34plans to transfer some of its products from China to the Philippines.

00:39In 2024, semiconductors accounted for nearly 40% of the country's total exports,

00:45valued at US$29.16 billion.
