00:06in the US this week when the Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE, sent a blast
00:11email to approximately 2 million workers with the subject line, What did you do last week?
00:16And failure to respond will be taken as resignation. That's what Elon Musk tweeted.
00:21When asked to respond, Donald Trump said it's a great idea as many people don't show up
00:25to work.
00:54The email instructed all federal workers to share approximately 5 bullets of what they
00:58accomplished. However, more than a dozen agencies told their employees to ignore the mail because
01:02Musk, the world's wealthiest man, isn't their boss.
01:05The Department of Defense said it is responsible for reviewing the performance of its personnel
01:09and it will conduct any review in accordance with its own procedures.
01:13Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard and FBI Director Kash Patel also instructed
01:18their employees to pause any responses to Musk's email.
01:21Although the response from these agencies may not indicate a serious rift between Musk
01:25and Trump appointees, their leaders might take issue with Musk bypassing them.
01:32DOGE is an advisory body led by Musk, which has been tasked with cutting US government
01:36jobs and other spending. Elon Musk is leading this effort to drastically reduce the federal
01:41workforce.
01:42However, political opponents and government watchdogs accused DOGE of acting without transparency
01:46and spreading misinformation about government spending and accused Musk of overstepping
01:51his authority as an unelected official.
