Detective Constable Gordon Iracafe, attached to the force's Central South Command unit,
00:06
faced a misconduct hearing on Thursday last week after allegations he lit and threw a
00:12
pyrotechnic into the crowd during a football match.
00:17
Indeed, the officer has now been dismissed by the Metropolitan Police after he was found
00:22
to have thrown a flare into a live Arsenal match in Munich while off-duty on April 17th
00:30
last year.
00:31
He was arrested and fined €100 by German police that same day for wearing a full balaclava
00:39
and sunglasses inside the stadium.
00:42
Dismissed.
00:43
Specifically for gross misconducts, that is of course in relation to hooliganism, displayed
00:50
during football matches, which the officer in question has a long history of.
00:56
The hearing found he had breached the standards of professional behaviour for discreditable
01:05
conduct.
01:06
Detective Constable Iracafe was also served with a court summons last October following
01:12
a separate investigation by the Met's Central Football Unit.
01:17
Westminster Magistrates' Court heard the officer had come to police notice on numerous
01:23
occasions for disorderly and antisocial behaviour at football matches.
01:28
He was heard shouting helicopter at a match away to Leicester City in February 2023.
01:35
The club's former owner died with four others when a helicopter crashed outside their King
01:41
Power Stadium in October 2018.
