00:00Syria's interim leaders have kicked off a long-awaited national dialogue conference

00:07intended to help establish the country's political future.

00:12De facto President Ahmed al-Shara, the leader of the Islamist insurgent group that toppled

00:16Bashar al-Assad, has promised an inclusive political transition.

00:20He also said all of Syria's communities were invited to the conference.

00:25The victory that was achieved and the joy of the Syrians has moved people here and there

00:34and they are trying to strengthen the achievements of the people.

00:37We have to be careful and face with firmness, strength and determination those who want

00:42to play with our security and unity.

00:45The gathering is meant to come up with non-binding recommendations for the country's interim

00:51ahead of the drafting of a new constitution and formation of a new government.

00:56Syria's leadership is hoping to rebuild diplomatic ties with Arab and Western countries

01:01and push for the removal of crippling sanctions imposed during al-Assad's rule.
