00:25the Department of Environment and Natural Resources warned again
00:29to the candidates and supporters of the use of trees as election billboards
00:35in accordance with the current law.
00:37According to Forester Raymond Rivera,
00:39Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Officer of DENR, Pangasinan,
00:43the placement of posters on trees may damage their skin,
00:47cause infection from pests, and lead to their death.
00:52According to Presidential Decree No. 953,
00:55there is a penalty for anyone who proves to be damaging or polluting the trees.
01:00Our penalty is that if you prove to be the one who placed that material,
01:07the penalty is to pay not less than P500,000, but not more than P5,000,
01:16and possibly imprisonment that will not exceed two years.
01:20According to Rivera,
01:22the trees with election posters for the upcoming election of DENR
01:25will be placed on the nearest office of DENR.
01:28Rivera also reminded the candidates to consult with local government units
01:33for the correct location of the campaign materials
01:35and to avoid damaging the trees.
