00:00With regards to the Malaysian Ambassador to Washington or to the United States,
00:07the Ministry has studied the appropriateness for us to send a representative of our country to the United States,
00:20someone who has already been a ready-made ambassador.
00:24A ready-made ambassador means someone who has experience in the field of international relations,
00:30in negotiating with international organizations,
00:36especially in the current state of America under the new administration of President Donald Trump.
00:44We need an expert in the field of bilateral relations,
00:53especially not only with ASEAN, but also with Malaysia and the United States,
00:59because the importance of trade between Malaysia and the United States is great.
01:03So we cannot just send a random person to be our representative in the United States.
01:11We need someone who is already an expert in the field of international relations,
01:18negotiating and so on,
01:20because we need his service as a ready-made ambassador for us to continue working,
01:27especially in our efforts for ASEAN to hold a special summit, ASEAN-US, this year.
01:39If we can do this, we will be able to ensure that we continue and also improve the bilateral relations between America and Malaysia.
01:50This is important because the importance of this bilateral relationship is of great importance to our country.
01:58We have confirmed and when we go through the process of approval,
02:06we will send an agreement from the United States,
02:12which is our request to send our representative and they agree.
02:17When the agreement is approved by the US side,
02:21then we will ask Mr. Agung to give a letter to our representative to the US.
02:30When this process is completed,
02:35the representative will be able to be sent directly and continue to work there,
02:41without being forced to adjust himself,
02:45we will send someone who is already an expert in the field of international relations.
