Royal Caribbean's CocoCay versus it's Labadee, Haiti destination

The cruise line has one private destination in a country that the U.S. government says not to visit.

00:08because you're already here watching this video. I am with Dennis Post, our

00:12travel agent partner, and we are in the beautiful Labadee, Haiti. This is a Royal

00:17Caribbean private destination, but it's a little bit different than Coco Cay. So

00:21at Coco Cay, they've built the beach club, they've built hideaway, they've built a

00:25pool. It's not really a natural paradise the way it used to be. Now, there's still

00:30a lot of areas that are left untouched, but Dennis, why don't you talk a little

00:33bit about what's here in Labadee and how it's a little bit different than sort of

00:37the new model for cruise line private islands. Yeah, this is a peninsula in Haiti,

00:42beautiful, right off the side of a mountain, very controlled, very serene.

00:46This is all natural behind us, and then over here, there's in front of us, there's

00:51rocks and coral and just a beautiful beach area, but right behind us there is

00:56coming out of, straight out of the mountain, you might see zip liners going

00:59by. This is just paradise. They just worked on a joint venture with Haiti and

01:05created this beautiful paradise for Royal Caribbean. So mostly, you have three

01:09sides of beaches. We're actually sitting in the pavilion where there's a barbecue.

01:12I've always complained there's no Haitian food. I'd like to try a little

01:16griot, a little more authentic Haitian food rather than a burger, but

01:19that's a minor complaint. You've got beaches on three sides. There's an

01:22inflatable water park. There is a dragon roller coaster, which isn't really a

01:27roller coaster. You're kind of sitting on like a little you-control-it, like, pad

01:31with wheels and brakes. My son really loved it, and there's a water slide, but

01:36for the most part, it is a beautiful beach day, and I know it is a level four

01:40do-not-travel from the US State Department, but we are nowhere near Port

01:44of Prince or where the danger is happening. There's actually, you're

01:48significantly closer if you're at the Carnival Port in the Dominican Republic,

01:51which is also perfectly safe, but that is much closer to Port of Prince, so this is

01:55a private destination. You have to be on a Royal Caribbean ship to come here, and

01:59it is absolutely safe. I am Dan Klein. He is Dennis Post. We will have more from
