00:38Jessica is set to drop the first single from the EP on February 21st titled Use My Heart Against Me.

00:44It comes just one month after she announced her split from Eric.

00:47The 44-year-old was married to the NFL player for 10 years and they share three children.

00:52Jessica further opened up about how this project is very different from her previous music.

00:58Making this record wasn't about having a hit. It was just about having a vibe.

01:02There's really not a lot of that in LA right now. It's formulaic.

01:06I wanted to break that mold for myself personally.

01:09I don't care if anything's a hit. I'm not with a record label.

01:12I don't expect it to even be on the radio.

01:14I appreciate that you realize how deeply rooted in unexpected ways this project is for me to set myself apart from old versions of myself.

01:23It's not like it's not me singing.

01:25In a separate interview with People, Simpson spoke more about her love life saying,

01:30I've grown up so much. I can handle so much. Maybe I'm just meant to love a lot of people in my life.

01:36Adding, I don't know why my heart gets tossed around, but I'm one of the lucky ones.

01:41At least I have my children and I still have Eric. He's still very much a part of my life and will always be.

01:47The singer has been teasing her new music for several months.

01:58This comeback is personal. It's an apology to myself for putting up with everything I did not deserve.
