00:02Your husband has cystic fibrosis.

00:05What? How bad is that?

00:08His body is creating a faulty protein that affects tissues, cells, glands,

00:14and depending on the severity of his disease,

00:17it could affect his lungs, pancreas, liver, kidney, and digestive functions.

00:22So what do we do? Is there a cure?

00:25No, no cure, but there are a wide variety of treatments.

00:29I don't believe it.

00:30It does normally present itself in early childhood.

00:33Now most countries do tests for it at birth,

00:36but England didn't make it a national standard until 2007.

00:40So my son wouldn't have been tested?

00:42No.

00:43And it is genetic, but we have very good reason to believe that Oliver is not Carrie's son.

00:54Why would you say that?

00:56Infertility is almost always an issue with CF patients.

00:59And if you'd gone to the fertility clinic, the doctors would have diagnosed Carrie.

01:07Our marriage had problems.

01:10We split for a while, then after we reconciled, I found out I was pregnant.

02:17How does that work? Does he have to get on some list? We're not even citizens here.

02:25We've already listed him with UNO, so hopefully he won't have to wait long.

02:28Maybe we don't have to wait at all. Can I donate part of my pancreas?

02:33It says here you can do a partial transplant if there's enough of a genetic match.

02:37That's a rarely used option and not a good idea.

02:39And your dad needs a whole new pancreas, but we can treat him while he waits.

02:43His parents are gone. I'm his only blood relative.

02:46So if there's anything else you need from me, I'll do whatever it takes.

02:52Yeah, I don't like it either, but our job is to treat the patient's disease.

02:55His infertility, that's irrelevant right now.

02:58What's the most important thing to this man?

03:01His family.

03:02Right. And now that he needs a transplant, is it better or worse for his stress levels if his family implodes?

03:07So we keep lying to him and his son and hope they don't figure it out.
