Champions Trophy 2025: In the press conference prior to the clash against Rohit Sharma's India, Najmul Hossain Shanto said that Bangladesh have the potential to get the better of any team in the ongoing tournament.

00:38I think all departments, we have to play well, batting, bowling, fielding, because I think

00:45the way we played last few years in this format, I think we had a good side and as you mentioned

00:53the conditions are quite similar, so I'm really confident in the way we prepare ourselves

00:58and I hope for the best for tomorrow's matches.

01:10Yeah, obviously. I think if you look at all eight teams are quality teams and against

01:16India, Pakistan, New Zealand, we had good memories, we won a couple of matches in recent

01:25time, last year when we played India in Bangladesh, we had good memories. But that is past, I

01:31think if we play well tomorrow and execute our plan, we'll have a good match tomorrow.

01:47Obviously, all-rounders always balance the team and we have got some good all-rounders,

01:54I hope they will perform tomorrow and play for the team.

01:59Hello, this is Satish from Gulf News. With Pakistan, India as favourites and Bangladesh

02:05as not one of the top favourites, how do you prepare mentally and what do you think is

02:11it an advantage when getting into a game like that?

02:14Yes, obviously. I think if you look at in this format, our team is quite balanced and

02:20we believe we can beat any team in this tournament. All teams are capable to win this trophy but

02:26I am someone not thinking about opponent much. If we execute our plan properly, we can beat

02:32any team in any day.

02:33Hi, captain. I just want to ask, as far as your history is concerned, do you think that

02:40this is the best pace bowling attack you have and I just want to know the conditions also

02:45because you guys have played against Pakistan Shaheen's also here. So, can you talk us

02:49about that, you know, under lights, fast bowling and do you think that this is the best pace

02:53attack for Bangladesh?

02:54Yes, obviously. I think we always struggle our seeming attack but last couple of years

02:59we have got some quality fast bowlers. We have some fast bowlers but now we have got

03:05Nahid Rana tasking the way the bowling. I think it helps a lot. As a captain, we love

03:12to see bowling fast and bowl for the team. So, I am really happy that we have got some

03:17good fast bowling unit and under light, ball might swing. So, if they bowl their good areas,

03:24it will help our team.

03:25Captain, big relief for your team that you don't have to face Jaswit Bumrah tomorrow

03:32and second part of my question is basically you are coming off the Bangladesh Premier

03:35League. So, will it take time for the players to adjust to the one day format considering

03:40coming from T20?

03:41I don't think so because like we play a lot of cricket especially in this format, domestic

03:46we had a lot of match but recently we finished BPL, especially the batter, couple of batters

03:54batted really well and they scored lot of runs. So, that gives us lot of confidence

03:59but I don't think it will be a problem to adjust this format.

04:06I am not someone thinking about any individual cricketer. I think they have lot of quality

04:11players. So, we are thinking about how we execute our plans.

04:18Just a question on Nahid Rana, obviously a very fast bowler, one of the fastest ever

04:22from Bangladesh. Not the type of cricketer that Bangladesh is used to having. As a captain,

04:29how much fun is it to have someone like that in your team and how are you looking forward

04:32to leading him tomorrow?

04:34Yes, very happy. I think last few matches he bowled really well and bowled fast as you

04:38mentioned and when we see in the ground bowling like this, it helps our whole bowling unit

04:47and it's motivated us how we can give opponent lot of challenge. So, that is one thing I

04:54really like. But what I want, he needs to be fit and he can continue his bowling form.

05:01So, I hope he will continue and we have got another 2-3 fast bowlers as well. So, we have

05:08couple of good bowling units. So, I hope they will continue their form.

05:12Captain, can you talk us a little bit about your planning? You are playing two matches

05:16in Pakistan, one here. So, what are the difference in conditions that you are expecting throughout

05:22the tournament?

05:23Yes, here I think we need to adjust because if you look at this wicket, probably it's

05:30not that much high scoring if you compare to Pakistan. So, we have to adjust and recently

05:35we played against Pakistan in test match in Rahul Pindi. So, we have that experience how

05:40the wicket will behave. But as a cricketer, I think we all understand when we need to

05:47adjust and how to play the game. So, I don't think it will be difficult. I think the boys

05:54are really looking forward to these two venues, how we can play good cricket.

05:59Hello, this is Bharat. People are talking about Bangladesh's fast bowling department.

06:08But what do you think is the reason behind the turnaround? Is it successive coaches,

06:12fast bowling coaches or at the grassroots level, there is a lot more work in relation

06:19to fast bowling?

06:20I think important wicket and the ball is changed. In first class cricket, we play on duke ball.

06:27So, the fast bowler wanted to bowl a lot of overs and the wicket a little bit changed.

06:32And obviously there is a lot of local coaches and obviously overseas coaches is there. So,

06:38they helped and they motivated the fast bowler how they can compete in this international

06:43arena. So, that is one thing, the ball is changed and the wicket and thanks to BCB where

06:50they think about our fast bowler. So, that is the one thing our fast bowler come up.

06:58One thing is, how much of a role does the crowd support really play in this kind of

07:02international because Dubai is a venue where you virtually can expect to get about 50-50.

07:08So your thoughts on that?

07:09Yes, obviously I hope so. Wherever we are going to play, there is a lot of supporters.

07:15They supported when we win, when we lose. So, that is a big part in this game and we

07:21feel the crowd will come tomorrow and support us.

07:29Hi, my question is about Rana. There is a lot of buzz about the pace bowling attack

07:35and I know you spoke a little bit about it but can you tell us how much you are going

07:40to be using that against the strong Indian batsmen?

07:45Recently he played one test match against them. So, he had that little bit of experience

07:51but he had to deliver tomorrow. What I see him, he is not someone looking to the opponent

07:59a lot. He just thinks about how he executes his plan. So, I hope if he is playing tomorrow,

08:05he will execute his plan and try to do well for the team.

08:10Are you surprised that India is playing at least 2-3 spinners but nobody is talking about

08:16their spinning quadrate at this particular venue? So, are you surprised that since you

08:23will depend mostly on your pace bowling attack but Indians are doing the opposite thing?

08:28Are you surprised?

08:28No, no. I am not depending on our pace bowling attack to be very honest. What I mentioned

08:33that we don't have a lot of pace bowlers before but now we have. We have always good spinners.

08:39So, we have now good balance, pace and spin. And I am not surprised if they put 2 or 3

08:46spinners because we have that idea what the team combination will happen tomorrow. So,

08:53we have that all the preparation. Last few days we had a good practice session. So, we

08:59know how the challenge will come tomorrow.

09:16So, you are managing the pace bowling, but how will you support the young star who is

09:23playing for the first time in an ICC event and how will you support him mentally to handle

09:28it? And a small question, will the heart of the practice match affect him in any way?

09:36No, Rana will definitely have some extra pressure on him but he never feels that he is under

09:43pressure or that he has come to such a big tournament. He is very normal and he is practicing

09:47very well. If he has the opportunity to play tomorrow, I am sure he will give his best.

09:54As for the practice match, you said that it won't affect him in any way because we have

09:59seen a lot of bowling and batting opportunities. So, in general, it will affect him a lot.

10:06Shanto, you are going to play one day after a long break. This is a big break for you.

10:13You have tried a lot of things in the last few days. In Mirpur, you ran 396 runs in a
