00:00The unmistakable aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans wafts through the air as you

00:09step inside the sprawling coffee center at the heart of the Dubai Multicommodity Center

00:14in Jebel Ali.

00:15The 7,500-square-meter facility offers a raft of customized services for the storage, roasting,

00:22packaging, and delivery of coffee.

00:24In just a little over one year since its launch, the place has emerged as a one-stop-shop

00:30for many international coffee giants.

00:32Well, it's been over a year now since the coffee center has been launched.

00:37The response has been really flattering for us, and the interest is actually growing day

00:47by day.

00:48The market is learning about the coffee center, and others have been members of the coffee

00:55center.

00:56DMCC, being in the industry for now 19 years, with the background it has and the knowledge

01:00it has with the commodity trades, so one of the opportunities that I have seen is the

01:07opportunity to build a coffee center.

01:09In keeping with his vision, Bin Sulayem is sparing no effort to support new entrants

01:13to the coffee industry.

01:15The latest of many such moves is his coffee entrepreneurship program.

01:20We are bringing in countries that never thought that they would be shipping their coffees

01:24to the Middle East, let alone Dubai.

01:28So we are putting, actually, the Middle East on the map.

01:30We're putting the Gulf GCC on the map.

01:33Basically, our goal in the Middle East is to have a specialty coffee brand where we

01:39can ship coffee from Dubai to anywhere in the world.

01:43And DMCC just came as the perfect partner.

01:46We roast our coffee here, so basically we have the storage of the green coffee itself

01:50that we shipped from Central America and South America.

01:55We utilize the roasting machines of DMCC Coffee Center to help us to roast the coffees.

02:00We use their logistics as well to export the roasted coffee beans into other markets and

02:07also in Dubai itself.

02:08Dubai is our hub that is literally covering Europe, Middle East, and Africa into our operation

02:16of the coffee industry.

02:18Why Dubai is that the beauty is that we have found this platform as DMCC that has the end-to-end

02:26offerings where, as producers and as international players, we came in from day one and we started

02:32to operate in the region.

02:34So that one made our operation a lot more flexible, a lot more rapid into the growth,

02:43and it has given us the exposure into exporting in all of the GCC countries and as well having

02:48the alignments with the African countries.

02:51So it really helped a lot.

02:52Bin Sulaim said the overwhelming success of member companies has prompted them to launch

02:58what he describes as a third wave of the coffee movement.

03:02Over 800 new companies joined DMCC in the first half of 2020 with a noticeable uptick

03:08in the months of May and June despite overall softer business climate.
