00:00Hi everyone this is Yusra and today we are taking you through the entire area of Jumeirah.
00:08It is an area that's really close to my heart, one of my favorite neighborhoods in Dubai. There's
00:12so much to do here from the beach to restaurants, coffee shops, places to walk. So today we're
00:19going to walk through the entire area from Jumeirah 1, 2 and 3. So if you look at any map
00:25you will notice that Jumeirah starts at 2nd of December Street, which is also known as
00:31Al-Diafah Road for those old school Dubaians out here, and it officially ends at Umm al-Shif.
00:37So it is about 10 kilometers long and 1.5 kilometers wide. So it's actually a pretty
00:43small area but for something so small it is packed with incredible hidden gems and amazing
00:49things to do. And we're gonna walk through the entire road, well maybe not walk through the
00:55entire road because everyone drives in Dubai, but we're gonna give you sort of a glimpse of
01:00what to expect when you're here in this neighborhood. So one of the places we're
01:04gonna stop by now is the iconic Jumeirah Mosque. As you can see it's like right next to it you'll
01:14have like restaurants, supermarkets and that's the thing about Jumeirah everything's kind of like
01:19really close to each other so you do discover a lot if you're paying attention while you're
01:23driving, which is how I discover most of the things.
01:32So the first stop on our Jumeirah adventure is the Jumeirah Grand Mosque, which has been around
01:38since 1998, so basically like the late 90s. And it's one of these places where people from all
01:47over the world and even UAE residents who want to learn more about Islam, they'll come, they'll do
01:53cultural tours, they'll have sort of a breakfast with the team, and they can walk around the mosque
01:59and learn about you know the UAE, the Emirati life, the Islamic life, and it's just one of
02:05those massive landmarks of Jumeirah wide.
02:24So we're at Palmstrip Mall, which is home to my favorite cafe called Amongst Few. It's kind of a
02:33hidden gem here in Jumeirah 1. And a few people actually know about it, specifically people who
02:39love sneakers because it's a very like sneakerhead themed sort of place. And I think we're gonna get
02:47like a coffee, maybe a matcha latte.
03:04So this is another one of my favorite hidden gems right here on Jumeirah Beach Road.
03:09It's a little coffee shop called Daily Dose, and it's sort of inside this villa on Beach Road,
03:16and it's just a really cute spot. I don't think many have heard about it, it's not really on
03:21everyone's radar. This is, like I said, one of my favorite coffee shops. I like to come here,
03:26I'll sit quietly in that corner over there and then just do some work. The music's really calm
03:31and it feels like a very homey place. So yeah, this is one of the other hidden gems that you
03:38can discover on Jumeirah Beach Road if you kind of know where to look.
03:46So that's Mercado Mall, actually one of the oldest and most beautiful malls in Dubai. It's
03:57actually designed after an Italian castle. And you know what? It is so underrated, it's amazing there.
04:03I love that mall. So we're about to get out at one of Dubai's super old school cafeterias
04:10called Al Ijaza Cafeteria. Now, cafeteria culture in Dubai is kind of a very interesting concept.
04:17It's popular among locals, Arab expats, and Indians who love to stop at the cafeteria,
04:26get some really cheap shawarma, really cheap tea, very funky juices, and kind of just spend the
04:34evening, usually when the weather is cooler, everyone just like sits outside and enjoys
04:40a night out. So we're gonna go and try and get some juice.
04:48Just look at the amount of different types of juices you can get at this place.
04:52Like I'm not even kidding. And their names have always been so epic, like people know this about
04:58Dubai cafeterias. And we've always spent years making fun of names like computer,
05:05you can order a juice named computer, or Toyota, or Nokia. Come on, that's hilarious. Nokia.
05:17So which one do you think I should get? We just placed an order for an orange juice. And here in
05:24Dubai, it's like super common to like actually sit in your car, place the order, and they come
05:29to your car and give it to you. They'll even bring the card machine all the way to you.
05:36So we've officially crossed out of Jumeirah 1 and into Jumeirah 2. Jumeirah 2 starts from a street
05:44called Al Aruba Street and continues until you cross the bridge of the canal. So our next stop
05:54is over the bridge of the canal and a quick walk along the canal which leads you to the sea.
06:05So we're at another of my favorite spots here in Jumeirah, which is the
06:10guaranteed most quiet and peaceful ones. This is the Dubai canal. And this is kind of the walkway
06:17of the canal. Behind me is the entire city. And I've taken off my mask because no one else is
06:23around. So basically the canal was built, well completed in 2016, end of 2016 November. And it
06:35was a really big deal at the time, you know, like it was the first time that a body of water could
06:41actually pass through the city. And those bridges that we cross every day, you know, they're over
06:47the canal and the water comes from the Arabian Gulf. So I also love this about Jumeirah is that
06:55you're gonna get the most random places all just stacked into a corner next to each other.
07:06So we're here at another one of my favorite hidden gems. It's called Lina Lou
07:12Bombolini. And they make really amazing donuts and desserts. And it's a small like Australian cafe.
07:19And I also discovered it by accident just by driving by and I stopped and had a donut and
07:25it was probably one of the best donuts I've ever had in my life. I don't want to exaggerate.
07:30Um, so we're gonna order a karak flavored donut today.
07:34So let's just see how that one goes. Because I've never had that one before. So we'll see.
07:39So this is actually karak ice cream. It's karak ice cream with a donut on top and on the bottom.
08:05It's pretty cool.
08:12So we finally made it to Jumeirah three and we are at Sunset Beach, which is one of my favorite
08:18beaches along the Jumeirah Beach Road. The beach is a huge part of Jumeirah. It's actually I think
08:25that's what kind of draws people into this area. It became popular because of the beaches because
08:32of the beach hotels that are located along the coastline. And now as the weather is starting to
08:38get more amazing, I think you will find people here 24 seven. Karak is just such a massive part
08:50of life here in in the UAE. It's basically sort of a tea with milk but it's done in a way.
09:00It's got like a magic touch to it. It just tastes much better than a simple tea bag in water with
09:06milk. It's piping hot and it's just such a big like comfort drink here in the UAE.
09:14And usually when they serve it they try and make it as bubbly as possible on the surface.
09:18So this is the final stop on our Jumeirah tour. This little spot literally only seats like 15 people.
09:37It's called Mama Fry. I also found it just by driving by on Jumeirah Beach Road. I can't exactly
09:44pinpoint what cuisine they have. I know it's a hint of Japanese, a little bit of fried chicken
09:51and it's just one of these cuisines that really sort of talks to UAE people.
10:02Jumeirah officially ends at Umm al-Shif Road. A lot of people mistakenly think that it keeps going
10:08until Burj al-Arab. However that is Umm al-Sakim. Umm al-Sakim 1, 2, 3. So this is the end of Jumeirah
10:16Beach Road, Umm al-Shif Road and yeah we are turning back to get back to my house in Jumeirah 3.
10:26But this was like honestly an adventure. Nothing can really explain how much I love this neighborhood.
10:33There is so much to explore and I've only just given you the tip of the iceberg.
10:38So the moment you have time and the moment the weather gets better I'm really urging everyone
10:44to just go out there and dig a little deeper into their neighborhood and you might find
10:48things that'll surprise you.
