00:002023 was a chaotic year and 2024 is probably going to be even worse.
00:09Here are the top five challenges as I see them for the world.
00:13The first of course is climate change.
00:15Even though there was agreement on some issues at the Dubai COP summit a few months ago,
00:19it's not enough to deal with what is now an immediate crisis facing us right now, not
00:24something that future generations would have to deal with.
00:27The second are geopolitical tensions, from the Ukraine-Russia conflict that's been dragging
00:32on to the Israel-Hamas war that is threatening to engulf more parts of the world.
00:37All of this has political and economic consequences for the rest of us.
00:41The third is the state of the economy.
00:44Major world economies are slowing down, there's a threat of recession, or they're just simply
00:48not doing well.
00:49The only bright spot seems to be India at the moment.
00:53The fourth big challenge will come from artificial intelligence.
00:56We saw the first gathering of world leaders in the UK just months earlier, and 2024 could
01:01be a defining year in how world's leading countries decide to deal with AI and the opportunities
01:08and challenges that it presents.
01:11Finally, elections will take place in major democracies, whether it's the United States,
01:15India, and even the UK.
01:18All of this will have a bearing in our future.
