00:00At the same time as the 50th anniversary of the distribution of quality medical services of the Philippine Heart Center,

00:06several personalities were honored, including the former First Lady Inmelda Marcos,

00:10who was one of the hospital's sponsors.

00:17The cardiologists of the Philippine Heart Center celebrated the 50th anniversary of the distribution of quality and medical services

00:28for our countrymen who are experiencing heart-related diseases, the PHC.

00:33Several personalities were honored, including the former First Lady Imelda Marcos,

00:42who was one of the hospital's sponsors.

00:58Being a mother, what is the story today about this 50th anniversary of the Heart Center?

01:08It is a story of love.

01:10I dedicate this award to my son, Daryl, who was just shot in the U.S. last September 6.

01:19The Philippine Heart Center's quality medical services will continue.

01:23The performance of the American singer-songwriter David Pomeranza,

01:28who became famous with his songs like Got to Believe in Magic, King and Queens of Hearts, and On This Day, was also watched.

01:35The Philippine Heart Center was established on February 14, 1975

01:39through the Presidential Decree No. 673 under the administration of President Ferdinand E. Marcos Sr.

01:47More than 14,000 patients are accommodated by the PHC every year,

01:52including more than 3,000 patients who undergo heart surgery.

01:56It is also considered one of the busiest congenital heart surgery centers in Asia.

02:02It is not only a celebration of our past, but also a reaffirmation of our commitment

02:07to the future of cardiovascular medicine in the Philippines.

02:10Just last year, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

02:15presided over the inauguration of the new Urgent Care and Ambulatory Service,

02:19or Bukas Center, at the Philippine Heart Center.

02:22It is part of the government's plan to provide more than P200 million in financial assistance to the hospital.

02:28There are more than 500 bed capacities, 10 operating rooms, 6 cardiac catheterization laboratories,

02:358 intensive care units, and 20 patient wards at the Philippine Heart Center.

02:40Currently, there are 15 regional heart centers in different parts of the country.

02:45Of these, 7 are fully-pledged regional heart centers, including the PHC in Ilocos Norte,

02:52Albay, Camarines Sura, Iloilo, Cebu, Davao, and Cagayan de Oro.

02:57According to the Philippine Statistics Authority,

03:00heart disease is still the leading cause of death among Filipinos.

03:04That is why the DOH reiterated the importance of proper diet and exercise

03:09to avoid heart disease.
