00:00So the results are in for Nagaland, Meghalaya and Tripura. But what's the national message
00:09for the big parties ahead of next year's general election? The BJP will be thrilled because
00:13it's come back decisively to power in Tripura, despite anti-incumbency and despite having
00:19to change chief ministers in the state. And remember, it's hard to believe the BJP was
00:24barely a force in the Northeast only 10 years ago. Today, it's a dominant political player.
00:30The second message is for the Congress party. Despite the hype surrounding the Bharat Jodo
00:34Yatra, which the Congress sees as a big success for Rahul Gandhi, the Congress has done terribly
00:39in these assembly elections. So barring Himachal Pradesh recently where they scored a victory,
00:44the party's route in state elections continues and they need to look at why this is happening.
00:50The third message is for regional players like Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress,
00:54which had big national expansion plans. Those have come to a halt. The TMC did underwhelmingly
01:02in these Northeast elections. And Mamata Banerjee has gone as far as to say that for next year's
01:07Lok Sabha polls, she will not tie up even with the Congress or with the left. Read the
01:13column to learn more about the national implications of these state polls.
