00:00First of all, welcome to INS.
00:02Thank you very much.
00:04First of all, I would like to know
00:06Badass Ravi Kumar
00:08is being called India's biggest
00:10spoof action film. So what was your
00:12first reaction when you got this project?
00:14My first reaction
00:16was yes. Because the first
00:18question that was
00:22put across to me was
00:24would you like to do this? So I was like yes.
00:26Because this is my second
00:28project.
00:30And the first one was in
00:322021.
00:34He had launched an album in
00:36which there was a song called Tere Pyar Mein.
00:38So I did that with him
00:40first and this is my second project with him.
00:42And this movie is
00:44very special because the song I
00:46did in 2021, this song is
00:48in this film. Although
00:50he is romancing with another heroine.
00:52But that's okay.
00:54Because the magic of the song remains
00:56the same. And I am
00:58very very happy to be associated on this
01:00project with him.
01:02Your look in the film is bold and glamorous.
01:04So how different is this from real life
01:06Shivangi?
01:08It's not at all
01:10different at all. Because in real life
01:12also, the way I am,
01:14you will see that on Instagram as well.
01:16So I am totally
01:18western in real life.
01:20And my character in
01:22Badass Ravi Kumar was not at all different
01:24as to what I am in real life.
01:26You have been part of Indian Television for years.
01:28So how does working in film feel different
01:30from TV?
01:32Of course, it's very very different.
01:34Although
01:36if you see my graph,
01:38it is like a rollercoaster. You know, I have performed
01:40all the characters which are just not
01:42similar with one another. All are different.
01:44Like I have played
01:46a role of a reporter
01:48in Sony TV reporter's
01:50show of Goldie Bell.
01:52Then I have played a role of a prosthetic nurse
01:54in Sony Pull.
01:56Then I have played a role of a vamp
01:58in TVBV
02:00on Sony Sub.
02:02Then I also played a very hot forensic
02:04expert. And there were people saying
02:06that if such a forensic expert
02:08investigates,
02:10even the dead will wake up.
02:14So you know, I have performed very different.
02:16So when I select
02:18the roles, I think a lot
02:20and I am very choosy on selecting my roles.
02:22So same goes for
02:24Badass Ravi Kumar also.
02:26Of course, I said yes for this film
02:28because it was an HR project.
02:30But also having said that,
02:32when I got to know that I am playing
02:34a role opposite Prabhu Deva Sir.
02:36I am his girlfriend
02:38and I am his huge fan.
02:40I have been watching his work since childhood.
02:42I am his fan.
02:44And when I got an opportunity to
02:46share screen with him, so definitely
02:48I just couldn't say no to it.
02:52This role was very very challenging
02:54because it has an action
02:56sequence where I was made to
02:58jump from a mountain.
03:00So I was in a harness.
03:02Dialogue has to be said,
03:04panic situation is there, action is there.
03:06So what all can you
03:08expect from a Himesh Rishabh Miya film?
03:10So this is Badass Ravi Kumar.
03:12As you said, you have worked with Prabhu Deva.
03:14So did he teach you any dance steps?
03:20No, he didn't.
03:22I am sure if I would have
03:24spent more time with him,
03:26definitely I would have requested him
03:28to teach me a dance step.
03:30But because it was a very short
03:32span of time and
03:34shooting of the movie was also there.
03:36So I didn't get that much opportunity.
03:38But of course,
03:40talking about him, he is very very
03:42down to earth, no hint of attitude
03:44at all. He made me very very
03:46comfortable. And he
03:48appreciated me when
03:50after the scene, when the scene got cut,
03:52he turned around because we were on a bike
03:54and he said, well done Shivangi, very good.
03:56So that gave me goosebumps.
03:58So this is the appreciation an actor needs.
04:02Do you think working in comedy roles
04:04helped you prepare for yourself like a badass?
04:08I don't understand your question because
04:10my role is not comedy at all.
04:12I am playing a police
04:14officer and
04:16so that has nothing
04:18to do with comedy.
04:20Do you think working in
04:22comedy roles,
04:24earlier in TV also you have
04:26worked in comedy. So do you think that
04:28it helped for a film like Badass
04:30Ravi Kumar?
04:32No, that's what I am saying that my role
04:34in Badass Ravi Kumar is very serious.
04:36It's full of action
04:38and that has nothing to do with comedy.
04:40Although I have done comedy
04:42and my genre is also comedy.
04:44I am very comfortable doing comic roles.
04:46And Badass Ravi Kumar is a
04:48spoof film. So it's
04:50full of entertainment, full of energy,
04:52full of action, full of romance.
04:54So it's a mix of everything.
04:56Who has been your biggest superstar
04:58in this journey from TV to films?
05:02Biggest superstar,
05:04I think when I see people
05:06doing hard work without taking
05:08anybody's support.
05:10On the basis of pure talent,
05:12when they move ahead, I like all of them.
05:14So there is nobody in particular.
05:16But when I see their graph,
05:18I become their fan.
05:20The trailer for Badass Ravi Kumar
05:22received mixed reactions.
05:24Some people love it and others call it
05:26over the top. So what
05:28do you say to the critics?
05:30See, it's not just about the
05:32film but I think I have also faced
05:34love and criticism in my
05:36own life. So I know that
05:38some people will say, it's their job
05:40to say. So not everybody
05:42likes everything, not everybody hates.
05:44Mixed reactions come in every content
05:46and context.
05:48So about Badass Ravi Kumar,
05:50I just want to say, not just
05:52because I am in this movie but also
05:54as an audience perspective, my
05:56perspective, I want to tell you that if you
05:58watch this movie, you will definitely
06:00go in for a ride which you will
06:02never forget. Because
06:04Himesh Vishamia
06:06has that vision, passion for his
06:08craft that he makes any ordinary thing
06:10a blockbuster. And I have seen it
06:12with my own eyes. I have
06:14seen this film twice. One, of course,
06:16I was in the film so I was very much
06:18excited. So I went with my family and
06:20friends. And second, because I was
06:22not satisfied, I wanted to see myself
06:24once again. And during that time,
06:26I also saw the audiences. You know, when I
06:28panned myself from the screen to audience
06:30faces, I saw them whistling,
06:32I saw them clapping, hooting,
06:34everything. So I think everybody was enjoying.
06:36So if you haven't seen it,
06:38please do. Because in such a stressful
06:40environment, if you get to laugh
06:42for a while, then why not?
06:44Do you think TV actors were still
06:46looked down upon?
06:48Or did the industry finally
06:50give them real respect?
06:52Do you think TV actors were still
06:54looked down upon in Bollywood?
06:56Or is the industry finally
06:58giving them real respect?
07:00See, again, it's your
07:02fate, you know. If you're
07:04a wonderful actor and everything falls in
07:06place, then definitely people will appreciate
07:08you and accept you. Having said
07:10that, if
07:12your fate is bad, then what will happen?
07:14So it's both ways.
07:16You have done TV series,
07:18TV web series
07:20and now films. So which industry
07:22treats actors the best? And which
07:24one is the toughest?
07:26See, working schedule,
07:28of course, TV is the toughest.
07:30As compared to
07:32films and OTT. I have
07:34worked in OTT as well. So everything
07:36is just as per...
07:38Because there are limited people.
07:40I mean, in OTT, I have worked
07:42with very limited people. And
07:44you get more freedom.
07:46You get...
07:48You know, the scenes are also very different.
07:50There is a bit of boldness as compared
07:52to TV. And in films,
07:54things are very slow because they believe
07:56in perfection. So everything,
07:58if things are not on point, they might
08:00have time to retake.
08:02But in TV,
08:04because you have to give the footage to the channel,
08:06you don't get that space.
08:08So that's the only difference. But otherwise,
08:10acting, all three
08:12are fun. And of course,
08:14if the cast is very good,
08:16then what's the point?
08:18Okay. Many TV actresses
08:20struggle with being
08:22typecast. So have you ever
08:24faced this issue in your career?
08:26Not yet.
08:28Because as I said, my journey
08:30has been a rollercoaster. And no
08:32one character is similar to
08:34other characters. So till now,
08:36by God's grace, I have not been typecast.
08:38But they say that if you perform
08:40the same set of roles
08:42every time, then you are
08:44typecast. But with me,
08:46this has not happened yet.
08:48If you could change one thing about
08:50how TV actresses are treated
08:52in industry, what would it be?
08:54I think that will be
08:56the break.
08:58Because, you know,
09:00the schedule gets so hectic that they don't get
09:02break. Because let me give you an example.
09:04I remember when I was doing
09:06Choti Sardarni,
09:08my lead was
09:10hospitalized because
09:12she did not get any break,
09:14no time to rest, and
09:16straight to the hospital, due to which my role
09:18was chopped.
09:20So, that was very upsetting. But having
09:22said that, I was also concerned for her
09:24because, of course, it's such a tight
09:26schedule, it's so difficult.
09:28You know, 12 hours, more
09:30than 12 hours, you're only shooting everyday
09:32that you don't get time for yourself, or you don't get
09:34time to breathe. So, I feel like
09:36we should have a backup
09:38bank,
09:40or just go slow with it.
09:42If Badass Ravi Kumar had
09:44a TV version, who from
09:46Indian television should play Ravi Kumar?
09:50I understand you're a fun segmenter, but
09:52I don't see anybody
09:54replacing Himesh Rishabh Mia
09:56because then there will be no discussion in that.
09:58One thing
10:00about Bollywood that surprised you
10:02when you joined?
10:06That you get a lot of
10:08money.
10:10Describe your Badass Ravi Kumar
10:12co-star in World War.
10:16Crazy
10:18for craft.
10:20Sorry, it's 3 now.
10:22If you had to
10:24survive in a jungle with one of your former
10:26co-stars, who would you pick and why?
10:28Say again?
10:30If you had to survive in a jungle
10:32with one of your former
10:34co-stars, who would you pick and why?
10:36I would
10:38pick my
10:40co-actor
10:42Ripudamananda, who
10:44is also a master chef.
10:46Because if you don't get food in the jungle, then he can cook
10:48and then we can survive.
10:50If not acting,
10:52what would you be
10:54doing today?
10:56I would have
10:58been an air hostess.
11:00Okay, lastly
11:02the dialogues in the film are very good.
11:04I mean,
11:06in today's
11:08film, there are no dialogues.
11:10So this film,
11:12Badass Ravi Kumar's dialogues are very good.
11:14Do you have any ending dialogue?
11:18Do you have a favourite dialogue?
11:20No, I don't remember.
11:22It's so tough
11:24to remember the dialogue.
11:26Atleast one more favourite dialogue.
11:28All the favourites are in the
11:30favourite dialogue.
11:36I actually
11:38remember, so I don't know
11:40if I should say it or not.
11:42So he says
11:44that there won't be
11:46as much blood in your body as
11:48Ravi Kumar does in one go.
11:54Lastly, what message would you like to give
11:56to your fans
11:58about your upcoming projects?
12:00About my upcoming projects,
12:02one of mine, of course,
12:04the recently released Badass Ravi Kumar,
12:06if you haven't seen it, then please, please go
12:08and watch it. You're going to have a fun time
12:10in theatres, because theatres
12:12are shaking already.
12:14My next movie is coming
12:16with veteran actor Govind Namdev
12:18Sir, whose third schedule
12:20is still pending.
12:22It will be released very soon.
12:24Then there's another project,
12:26that's a Kannad project, which will be
12:28out anytime soon.
12:30And, God is kind,
12:32let's see, maybe in March, I'll start
12:34shooting for another film.
12:36If we talk about social media,
12:38as you said,
12:40do you think that social media
12:42has a role in everything?
12:44Like, recently
12:46there was a
12:48movie with Govind Namdev Sir,
12:50did people listen to it?
12:52What do you think about it?
12:54I just want to say
12:56that we were only
12:58playing our roles.
13:00I just put a movie
13:02with my co-actor,
13:04and without
13:06explaining it, I just
13:08wrote a line, that
13:10love knows no age, no limits.
13:12Because I just wanted people to
13:14guess, but I didn't know that people
13:16would think to this extent,
13:18which has no limit.
13:20I think you
13:22shouldn't judge a book by its cover.
13:24Of course, we are
13:26shooting for a project, and I have
13:28uploaded its BTS on the
13:30social media. But,
13:32I always say that people
13:34will say something, it's their job to say.
13:36So, you also keep saying,
13:38because it just does not affect me.
13:40I listen from one ear,
13:42and take it out from the other. I know what I'm doing,
13:44my parents know, my family knows,
13:46the production house knows, and when the movie
13:48comes, you all will go and watch
13:50that movie, and enjoy it, and give a lot of love.
