Der Regierungschef des EU-Beitrittskandidatenlandes hofft, dass Montenegro bis 2028 das 28. Mitglied der Union wird. Im Interview mit Euronews zeigte er sich sehr zuversichtlich.
00:02What about partnership with the EU? Why does the EU need Montenegro?
00:06It's even more than partnership. We are next in line to join the EU, so we are basically behaving as an EU member state already.
00:15We want to close all the chapters by the end of 2026 and we are hoping to join in January 2028.
00:24So this is the plan, to be 28th by 2028.
00:28And I think it's for us, Montenegro, we are very optimistic about our economic future.
00:36In last 4-5 years we have managed to double our GDP.
00:40So what it means is that I think by the time we join we might be not net receiver of EU funds but maybe net contributor.
00:48So that's one way to contribute to EU.
00:50And secondly obviously Montenegro is a multi-ethnic, multi-religious society having basically all the Balkan nations inside.
00:59And getting Montenegro in is sort of a bridge towards the rest of Balkans and a hope towards the rest of Balkans.
01:07It's kind of a beacon of light that EU is open for us.
01:10And what exactly and directly will you, I mean you mentioned a few things there, but what will you be bringing to the table?
01:16So these are the things. I think the values that we bring and the financial contribution potentially as well as the insight into how to get to the Balkans.
01:25And why does this need to happen now? Why now?
01:28I think it's the best time now because you see that everybody wants to enlarge in the world.
01:35Like the big powers are racing, big powers are innovating, big powers are trying to find new markets.
