00:00As part of the modernization of the Philippine Armed Forces,

00:04especially the Armed Forces of the Philippines that bought a submarine,

00:08the Chinese ships that are in the exclusive economic zone of the country will continue to be guarded.

00:14Patrick de Jesus of PTV has news for the country.

00:19In the face of the continued improvement of the defense of the country,

00:23is the modernization of the use of the Armed Forces.

00:26According to AFP Chief of Staff General Romeo Browner Jr.,

00:30the purchase of a submarine under the AFP Modernization Program Horizon 3 is still on the agenda.

00:53For the past year, the fund for the AFP Modernization Program has increased by 29%.

01:03The government allocated 35 billion pesos for this in 2025.

01:09General Browner admitted that this is not enough,

01:12especially since there are also multi-year contracts being paid for the first purchased equipment.

01:18But he is trying to find a way to increase the fund with the help of local and foreign financing.

01:25In fact, we have had some offers already, so we are studying the legality of this.

01:33But with all the help that can be given to AFP, the Philippine Coast Guard,

01:41and other government agencies that are involved in securing our territory and our sovereign rights,

01:49these are all welcome to us.

01:52This year, two new corvettes from South Korea are expected to be delivered,

01:57including the VRP Miguel Malbar, which will arrive in March.

02:01There are also new landing dock ships and six offshore patrol vessels.

02:06Meanwhile, the Philippine Coast Guard continues to target Chinese ships

02:11that are in the Philippines' Exclusive Economic Zone.

02:14This includes the Chinese Research Vessel Lanhai 101,

02:18which was first detected inside the country's archipelagic waters

02:22and was last seen in the Bambuyan Islands back in China.

02:26Although the so-called Research Vessel said that their passage was due to poor sea conditions

02:33in the southern part of the Palawan,

02:35the PCG noticed something suspicious in its navigation,

02:39where it detected an automatic identification system or transponder.

02:44It keeps on entering our contiguous zone.

02:50It maintains 23, 24, 25 nautical miles off the coast of our coastline.

02:58So although VRP Cabra keeps on pushing her further away from our contiguous zone,

03:06and yet, it still insists on entering.

03:09VRP Cabra and China Coast Guard 3304 are now monitoring

03:14the 43 nautical miles from Pangasinan.

03:17In Bajo de Masinloc, four Chinese Coast Guard vessels are still there.

03:22The latest to arrive here is CCG 5303, while the monster ship is still there.

03:29Despite this, the PCG assured that the country has sufficient capabilities

03:33to monitor if there is a tanker reclamation in Scarborough,

03:37which is one of the so-called red lines of the government.

03:40That is the priority of our aircraft and also the intelligence gathering of our Philippine Coast Guard

03:50to make sure that the Chinese government are not carrying out illegal reclamation in Bajo de Masinloc.

03:57So far, we can say that the Chinese government are not doing reclamation in Bajo de Masinloc.

04:03This Wednesday, seven multilateral maritime cooperative activities were held

04:09between the Philippines, Canada, and America in the West Philippine Sea.

04:14The naval and air force units of the countries were involved.
