00:00Former MCA member Li Huabeng says Chinese people should not give in to DAP's fear-mongering tactics against PAS.

00:12Speaking on former Law Minister Zayed Ibrahim's podcast, Li said PAS had been unfairly demonized among the Chinese community

00:21and that forming an alliance with it is more strategic in the current political landscape.

00:28DAP and MCA to a certain extent have demonized PAS so much until the Chinese are so scared of PAS.

00:35We are living in a Malay majority area. We are the minority. So we have to look at PAS and shouldn't fear PAS.

00:43Zayed said PAS is now in favour with Malay voters, having replaced UMNO as the leading party.

00:52However, Li said MCA had worked with PAS before but not openly as it is taboo for most Chinese-based parties, including DAP.

01:03Zayed attributed this taboo to DAP propaganda and dismissed the notion that PAS wants to Islamize the nation.

01:12Actually PAS wants to be Islamic, more towards the Muslim. I don't think PAS is interested to Islamize you or the Chinese. I don't think so.

01:23They may not be liberal. They may be not so open. But it's because they want to protect the Muslim. They are the first priority.
