Anti-Trump demonstration takes place ahead of NATO meeting in Brussels

The demonstration happened on the sidelines of US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth's address at the Ukraine Defence Contact Group in Brussels.

00:00Dozens gathered in an anti-Trump demonstration in front of Central Station in Brussels on

00:07Wednesday, calling to defend democracy in the United States.

00:14We really want to protest the Trump administration's attack on our constitutional values and American

00:20values, which is not what he was elected for.

00:23The demonstration happened on the sidelines of U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Higgs' visit

00:28to Belgium, where he spoke at a meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group in Brussels.

00:35The newly appointed Defense Secretary said that Ukraine's desired return to its pre-2014

00:40borders, as well as potential NATO accession, are unrealistic goals.

00:46He also underlined that U.S. troops would not be a part of any peacekeeping mission

00:50in Ukraine.

00:51I think what's important is that we send a very strong message that we are a strong NATO

00:58member, that we will abide by the treaty, that we are not going to undermine NATO, as

01:04was Trump's policy very clearly in 2016.

01:07This cannot happen again, and that we will stand with Europe.

01:11On Thursday, NATO defense ministers are set to meet in the Belgian capital to begin preparations

01:17for the NATO summit, which will be held in The Hague later this year.
