Public inquiry into the future of the crooked house has been postponed following a legal
00:08
challenge by the pub's owners. The Himley landmark was destroyed in a suspected arson
00:14
attack in August last year and later demolished, prompting widespread anger. South Staffordshire
00:19
Council had ordered the owners, ATE Farms Ltd, to rebuild the pub within three years,
00:26
but an appeal to the High Court has now forced the authority to delay proceedings. The inquiry,
00:31
originally scheduled for March, will only go ahead once any potential criminal proceedings
00:36
have concluded. The council says it has exhausted all options to continue with the inquiry as
00:42
planned and acknowledges the disappointment felt by residents. It maintains that it remains
00:47
committed to seeing the matter resolved, but is now waiting for legal processes to run
00:52
their course.
