00:00How did you come up with Lara Croft?
00:30Lara Croft style dreams. On a personal level, Lara is so much more grown and has grown so much more and she's also on a mission to really find the essence of herself, not to mention she's trying to save the world from a mind apocalypse.
00:45So you have all these trials and tribulations she goes through from the tombs to the jungle to fighting Trinity, all of these things that the Arab Lara Croft gamer has been with her through version one.
00:58On an emotional level, you feel that Lara has become a grown woman with a lot of internal struggles and you feel that with her. Sadness, pain, anger, jealousy, fury, self-resentment, self-exploration, all of these things you go through in your own life in a different situation, she's going through now.
01:19One of the activities my dad and my brothers used to do was play computer games and it was war games mostly. My dad's a general in the army so imagine like the tactics that went into that sit down.
01:36I love the gaming world. I do understand that it just detaches you from everything and gives you a break and at the same time my brothers are really into the gaming world and my husband now has been and still is really into the gaming world so it's all around me. It's an activity that I know just makes me think of nothing else but what's in front of me and I like that.
01:59Well first of all let's start with the things that matter to us the most which are beliefs. Beliefs in being an independent woman. Beliefs in fighting for yourself. Beliefs in conquering the world and having such big ambitions and going through trials and tribulations and still overcoming them.
02:17So at its own base Lara is a feminist because she wants to reach her goal and she can do it on her own and nothing can stop her and that's a similarity I have and a lot of other Arab women have.
02:33Feminism to me is let's just break it down a bit to the simple basics. It's being a woman who knows her rights and who knows that she can be whoever she wants to be. That's what feminism means to me. It means never holding back. It means pushing forward towards achieving whatever you want.
02:56It means holding your own at the same time whether it's on a personal level or business level or on a relationship level. It is not about competing with anyone. It's not about bashing men. It's not about just pointing fingers. It's just about being neutral towards all of these things but at the same time having a very clear realization of who you are and what you can be and going there.
03:24We have much more opportunities to shine. That's a sure thing if you want a comparative to past years. But I would like to see women in stronger roles. I want to see a bit of an action character. I want to see women in more defying roles. Let's just say that.
03:45Which is why I was so attracted to Lara. Technically the role is very challenging when you're just doing the voice with nothing in front of you and you have to admit all those emotions. And at the same time I wanted to be Lara. I wanted to be that type of woman. And I know so many girls that also just need a voice. They don't always need the voices that are available to them. They need stronger voices and we need to give them that so that they can find their own voice eventually.
