THE EXTRAORDINARY MISS FLOWER Movie Trailer HD - Plot synopsis: THE EXTRAORDINARY MISS FLOWER is a spellbinding performance film by Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard (20,000 Days on Earth), bringing to life the remarkable story the extraordinary Geraldine Flower and the discovery of a suitcase of letters sent to her in the 60s and 70s that inspired acclaimed Icelandic singer/songwriter Emilíana Torrini to return to the studio.

Part film, part theatre, part fever dream — The Extraordinary Miss Flower takes the form of a series of specially designed performances by Emilíana and her band, combined with dramatic scenes and readings from letters by well-known actors and musicians. It's ultimately a heartfelt love letter to the enduring power of creativity and friendship.

As well as performing ten songs, Emilíana Torrini acts for the first time — alongside Caroline Catz (Delia Derbyshire: The Myths and Legendary Tapes) as ‘Miss Flower’. The film also features Richard Ayoade, Siggi Baldursson, Nick Cave, Alice Lowe, Mark Monero, Niall Murphy and Angus Sampson in supporting roles, plus the voice of Sophie Ellis-Bextor. Choreographer Kate Coyne (formally Michael Clark company) performs alongside Viva Seifert and Saeed Esmaeli. The band is Simon Byrt, Mara Carlyle, Liam Hutton, Ian Kellett and Lovisa Sigrunardottir.

THE EXTRAORDINARY MISS FLOWER is backed by Sam Dyson and Distiller Music, and was shot at Distillery II studio, near Bristol. Produced by Zoe Flower, co-produced by Andy Starke with Executive Producers Ben Wheatley, Beth Earl, Anna Hildur Hildibrandsdottir. Key crew include Cinematographer Erik Wilson BSC, Simon Byrt (musical director), Susie Coulthard (costume designer), Emma Rios (production designer / illustrator) and Anna Randall (hair and make-up designer).

00:00Who is Miss Geraldine Flower?
00:13After Miss Flower passed away, her daughter found a box filled with hundreds of letters.
00:18These made their way into the hands of Miss Emiliana Turini, and more importantly, into
00:22her imagination.
00:23I was hooked.
00:25There's enough love in these letters to fulfill a person for a hundred years.
00:29These open people up in ways that nothing else really does.
00:32And so I thought of you.
00:33I imagined you as so many things, and then as a wine.
00:37I want to taste you.
00:38Taste you.
00:39I want to taste you.
00:40Wait.
00:41Wait.
00:42Stop.
00:43There was a voice I sing.
00:44Did you love him?
00:45Yes, I loved him.
00:46Do you realize you have written me 37,271 words in your letter to Mimi?
01:07Hidden meanings.
01:08Do I love him?
01:09I was intrigued by your letter.
01:10Do I love him?
01:11Hidden meanings.
01:12I can't stop thinking about her.
01:13Goodbye.
01:15At least my part in it.
01:16We are only as sick as our darkest secrets.
01:20I've typed this letter three times.
01:23The first was too emotional, and that seemed to me to be a lack of faith.
01:29Tonight, I hope to capture how I feel without it sounding like words.
01:36I always know when a song is waiting for me.
01:39It hangs over me.
01:41But sometimes you're scrabbling around, trying to feel something, and you get kind of desperate.
01:46You're waiting for something to ignite and burn a hole through and lead you.
01:50This box of letters did that to me.
01:52I should tell you the story.
01:53Miss Flower.
01:54Flower.
01:55Flower.
01:56DG.
01:57Darling Flower Child.
01:58Dear Gerald.
01:59It's my flower.
02:00To the extraordinary Miss Flower.
02:01To the extraordinary Miss Flower.
02:02It's a crazy, stupid story.
