00:08The US and Russia are to chair a meeting in New York today, bringing together world powers

00:13with a stake in Syria's civil war. The 23-nation International Syria Support Group was set

00:18up to push for a ceasefire and an eventual political resolution to the bloody five-year-old

00:24conflict.

00:25Foreign ministers, already gathered in New York for the UN General Assembly, held an

00:28emergency meeting of the ISSG on Tuesday but made little progress.

00:34A second night of race-related clashes in Charlotte on Wednesday left one protester

00:39on life support. The renewed violence prompted North Carolina to declare a state of emergency.

00:44Governor Pat McCrory said he was also activating the National Guard and Highway Patrol officers

00:49to assist local law enforcement.

00:52The revised UAE bankruptcy law could provide its own boost to the home rental market. More

00:57UAE-based businesses, even mid-sized ones, could start taking on residential leases on

01:02behalf of their employees when the law comes into effect. The new version of the law stipulates

01:07that checks issued by commercial entities will not be considered a criminal offense

01:11if they bounce.
