00:09Here are the top stories at this hour.

00:11A massive truck bomb ripped through a popular Baghdad food market in a predominantly Shiite neighbourhood early today,

00:17killing at least 60 people and wounding more than 100.

00:20No one immediately claimed responsibility for the attack,

00:23but Daesh terrorists commonly target military checkpoints for predominantly Shiite neighbourhoods.

00:28Former President Jimmy Carter, who at age 90 still travels the world supporting humanitarian endeavours,

00:34has announced he has cancer that has spread to other parts of his body.

00:37Recent liver surgery revealed,

00:39I have cancer that is now in other parts of my body, Carter said in a statement.

00:43Two huge explosions tore through an industrial area where toxic chemicals and gas were stored in the northeast Chinese port city of Tianjin,

00:51killing at least 44 people, officials and state media said.

00:55At least 520 people were injured, the Tianjin government said.

00:59Wednesday night's blast, so large that they were seen by satellites in space,

01:02sent shockwaves through apartment blocks kilometres away in the port city of 15 million people.

01:08In sport, India's opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan scored his second consecutive hundred

01:13as he and captain Virat Kohli took India past Sri Lanka's first innings total on the second day of the opening test at Galta Day.

01:20Resuming on 128 for 2, Dhawan, 110 and Kohli, 86, continue to frustrate the Sri Lankan bowlers.

01:27Three more women have accused comedian Bill Cosby of sexual assault, providing detailed allegations of abuse.

01:33They said the veteran television star subjected them to decades ago.

01:37Colleen Hughes and Linda Ridgeway White Deer said Cosby, 78, had sexually assaulted them in the early 1970s,

01:44while Eden Turrell said he sexually harassed her on the Cosby show set in 1989.

01:49The women were speaking at a press conference hosted by celebrity attorney Gloria Alred,

01:54who represents 21 of the more than 40 women who have come forward in the past year,

01:59accusing Cosby of drugging and sexually assaulting them.

02:02And finally, the weather. Today's high across the UAE will be 42 degrees Celsius, dropping to 31 degrees at night.
