00:00As part of its ongoing effort to help relieve the suffering of the people of Palestine,
00:17Dubai Cares has opted to send 50,000 backpacks filled with school supplies to the children
00:22of Gaza.
00:26Years of bombing and constant fighting have left the population of Gaza injured both physically
00:30and mentally, and as a first step towards rebuilding Palestine, the education of its
00:34children is the first priority.
00:39Starting on January 8, 2015, students and corporate volunteers came together to assemble
00:44backpacks that contained 16 different school supplies from pens and pencils to calculators,
00:49pencil sharpeners, and notebooks.
01:12The turnout for the first day was very impressive, and the students who helped assemble the goods
01:16feel a sense of well-being knowing that they are helping other students less fortunate
01:20than them.
01:21It makes me feel good.
01:22It's a cause that we're helping.

01:26It gives you a really good feeling inside your heart.
01:27I feel very happy, and I feel like I'm finally doing something for this world.
01:28We need to support, because we're all one family, and people in Gaza are not different

01:30So they deserve education, and we need to help them.

01:56UAE residents, businesses and schools can register on site at al-Bum tourist village
01:57in Dubai to participate in assembling the school kits any time between 10 a.m. and 6
01:58p.m. from January 8 to 11, 2015.

02:02People don't have electricity.
02:03Any help, any small help, will make a change in the lives of the Gaza people.

02:16Everyone knows the Palestinians and what they gave to the world in terms of teaching, in
02:21terms of knowledge, in terms of wealth, in terms of everything.
02:24Today we have to give back.
02:25So we will insist on providing the children assistance with education and I hope we will
02:30do our bit with education, but I hope all the other foundations and NGOs will do their
02:35bit into getting those children out of their misery and bringing a nation back to its feet.
02:41Following the event, Dubai Cares will deliver the kits to students currently studying in
02:45Gaza in time for the start of the second half of the academic year.
