00:24Charming as always with his magnetic smile, the Swiss tennis player joined dignitaries
00:28from China and a throng of fans in celebrating the occasion.
00:31Also present were Chinese Ambassador Chang Hua, Consul General Tang Huibin, Gerald Lawless,
00:37Jomera Group President and Group CEO, Anthony McHale, General Manager of Burj Al Arab and
00:42Salah Talaq, Tournament Director of the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championship.
00:48As fans young and old mobbed the Swiss legend, Federer didn't disappoint as he accommodated
00:53as many as he could, posing for the camera and signing autographs, including one for
00:57the ambassador's child.
01:01The six-time Dubai champion also took part in coloring the eyes of the lion just before
01:06the traditional lion dance, which is performed at important ceremonies such as the Chinese
01:11New Year celebration.
01:13Coloring the lion's eyes is an important part of the ceremony and the responsibility is
01:18reserved for people of high social status as it is believed to give the lion its spirit
01:23and brings it to life.
01:31Federer said it was an honor for him to be part of the celebration.
01:34A fireworks display added more color to a memorable Chinese New Year with Federer.
