00:00Living and working in a metropolitan city such as Dubai can be stressful.

00:12It is not uncommon to see people in the Emirates suffer from stress-related ailments, often

00:17caused by bad lifestyle choices.

00:20Unfortunately, it is not easy to find a cure for such ailments.

00:24Some people are therefore trying out homeopathy as an alternative means of fighting off stress

00:28and other diseases.

00:30Homeopathy is a system of complementary medicine that is gaining popularity in the UAE.

00:35Initially, there was serious skepticism about this form of medicine, but there are now people

00:39using it as the first choice in treatment.

00:42For the last few years, homeopathy has been in Dubai.

00:44It is based on the principle of like-cure-likes, which is basically similar to the vaccination

00:50therapy.

00:51It helps to build immunity against known and unknown allergens.

00:54This is basically the fundamental of homeopathy.

00:56Homeopathy was created in 1796 by German physician Samuel Hahnemann, who treated ailments

01:01by administering small doses of natural substances that, in larger amounts, would produce symptoms

01:06of the same ailment.

01:08It is claimed that millions of people, including presidents and celebrities, use homeopathy.

01:12I treated myself for a bout of UTI that wasn't getting cured any other way.

01:19I started googling about homeopathy and what it can do for me as far as curing my UTI.

01:28I used this remedy called Staphysagria, and all I had to do was one pill.

01:37It was Staphysagria 200C, and it was one pill twice a day.

01:44On the second day, the UTI that's gotten my kidneys painful, like it got really tender,

01:51actually got cured.

01:52Definitely, there is a significant improvement.

01:56The hair loss has stopped, and the volume of hair is quite good, and I can feel the

02:02difference.

02:03Honestly, I didn't try any traditional treatment, but when I came here, the effect is definitely

02:10good, and it's a long-term effect.

02:15Maybe the traditional treatment is short-term, and probably it doesn't have a long effect.

02:21But at Dr. Batra's, I did two years' treatment completely, and it has really helped me a lot.

02:30It's different from the traditional medicine, because traditional medicine tries to kill

02:36the bacteria.

02:38What homopathy does is, it tries to build up immunity.

02:40So it's completely different.

02:43While traditional medicine is based on opposites, homopathy is based on likes.

02:47For example, if you are cutting onions, and your eyes start watering, then I could make

02:52a homopathic medicine from onion called Allium sepa, which would be very good for running

02:57of the nose and watering of the eyes, and one of the good medicines for colds.

03:01So it actually works on the theory of likes, while allopathy works on the theory of opposites.

03:07The beauty of this is that homopathy is very personalized, and it's individualized.

03:11So what I give you for cold could be different from what I'm giving somebody else for cold.

03:16So my job as a doctor is to ensure that I go properly to your entire constitution to

03:23see including your social causes, your environmental causes, emotional problems, and then try to

03:28find a medicine for you.

03:29For homopathy, there is no side effects, and that is the best part of the medication.

03:34So only thing you have to maintain the diet to have the results positive, and there are

03:41no side effects.

03:42With homopathy, you can't really go wrong, because if you take a wrong remedy, it just

03:47doesn't affect you.

03:49It doesn't heal you.

03:50It doesn't cure you, and that's why you need to go on to the next remedy and try that out.

03:57There are symptoms for each illness that you have to go through.

04:02So say you have a headache that stems right from the bottom of your neck, or a headache

04:11between your eyes.

04:12So each of those symptoms will give you a different remedy.

04:16So you just need to pair up a remedy to your symptoms.

04:20While practitioners and patients claim that it has no side effects, and it's a better

04:24remedy than modern and traditional forms of medicine, the majority of medical practitioners

04:29remain skeptical with homopathy.
