00:00It's just another busy day at the Umramul Emirates Post Office in Rashidiyah.

00:17The Emirates Postal Service has 116 branches across the UAE and receives an average of

00:23800,000 letters per day.

00:26They also process a large number of parcels for local and international delivery.

00:56While some staff do still sort the post manually according to destination, most of the operations

01:17are automated.

01:47State-of-the-art machines are able to process up to 40,000 letters per hour.

01:53Hybrid mails such as Dewa, utility bills and bank statements are sorted, with cameras recording

01:59each letter to check addresses and assign barcodes.

02:04The machines then sort the mail by country, city or district depending on how the sorting

02:09machine has been programmed.

02:39The machine can be programmed almost as ever depending on the requirement of the sorting centre.

02:45You can see for example, the machines now sort the letters depending on their destination.

02:51For example over here you can see Dubai Karama, 1 till 100.

02:56So you will find letters from 1 till 100 to Karama are sorted here automatically, without

03:01any human interface.

03:02From here it will be dispatched to the branch directly.

03:06After mail has been processed and sorted, it is carried by a pleat of over 550 imposed

03:12vehicles to draw steps across the United Arab Emirates.
