Ed Sheeran busks on the streets of India before police shut him down

Locals out for a stroll in Bengaluru, India, were shocked to come across Ed Sheeran performing on the street on February 9th, 2025. Police also appeared surprised, and soon shut down the show. A statement by police later stressed Sheeran had permission to perform inside, but not on the street - contradicting Sheeran’s original comments.

00:00Speaker 1 – We have permission to do this, it's this policeman that's shutting it down but we'll see you later.

00:26Speaker 2 – No, we have permitted him to perform in that International Exhibition Centre

00:32but all of a sudden he has come to Church Street and police has not given permission.

00:37So nobody should take advantage of that situation because he is a very famous singer.

00:42Naturally there will be a lot of people, there will be a chaos and that is why to prevent that situation police has not given permission.

00:50So in spite of that he has come and tried to perform so police prevented it, nothing beyond that.
