How do you think, kind of, the hands-on experience compares to the academic study?
00:05
Well, I mean, I teach at university part-time, so I suppose I've got first-hand experience
00:12
of this. I think apprentices are a great idea. University isn't for everyone. You're not
00:17
going to be in debt. And although it's awful to say it, the more people that go to university,
00:22
it brings down the value of a degree, you know, unfortunately. I think that's a great
00:27
idea.
00:28
Is it a good experience, giving people hands-on experience, or do you think they should go
00:31
and do a degree, perhaps?
00:33
No, I definitely think that apprenticeships are great. I mean, I nearly would have gone
00:37
into stuff if I didn't choose academics. There's so many paths, and so many of the jobs that
00:42
I'm looking for have their own version of apprenticeships. Like, I mean, even looking
00:46
in, like, finance and tech and stuff, all of those companies are offering apprenticeships.
00:52
A lot of people, if you care about the next generation, hands-on, teaching them on the
00:58
job, absolutely.
