00:00I think we had to take some responsibility.
00:16Team Wisma lease a bike.
00:18You know they had to do all the work today of winding in a breakaway on a very long day.
00:23Yeah, I think we did it really good.
00:25Berens and McLeay will of course be on duty for Olaf Koi.
00:30We also did really good sprint preparations, so yeah, it was thanks to the boys that they
00:35set me up really well.
00:36Looking better than just about everybody at the moment is Olaf Koi, no challenges at all
00:41it seems.
00:42Olaf Koi, head and shoulders above everybody.
00:45We're eager to get the stage win this week, take it in the first stage of Tour of Romandes.
00:50Yeah, it's definitely a really good start.
00:56I'm ready for today and it feels good for me, the final.
01:01I think it's quite a good, fast and uphill finish.
01:04I will give everything to get the victory today.
01:11Well, it's one of the goals for the team to get up the road and try and get one of the
01:14jerseys for the day, so we're pretty happy that I was able to get it.
01:18We will see you again on the breakaway today.
01:20Is that the goal for you?
01:22Yeah, if everything goes to plan, I'll be back up the road again.
01:25Try and get some more points.
01:30And so, to a big breakaways day.
01:33They say it's for the barredeurs, the puncheurs, you make your own mind up.
01:37Certainly, this was causing nerves amongst the pack.
01:41A big old run today, over 200 kilometers.
01:44It was going to draw out the very brave to be in a breakaway and that's precisely what
01:48we got.
01:49It was one heck of a battle.
01:51Well, the original six were paired back down.
01:53We had two chasers that were looking very handy.
01:56Louis Verweyker and Xavier Asperin.
01:59They bridged over to the quartet who remained from the original break and it was game on.
02:04Well, the peloton behind was starting to see shredded nerves.
02:08The drive for home was also accounting for those who'd been battling for the points out
02:12there.
02:13The golden jersey changed shoulders, but this was going to be about the day itself.
02:19A big stage win up for grabs.
02:22Huge distance, some familiar twists and turns along the way, but it was all about delivery
02:29and, indeed, whether the breakaway could just hold on long enough to make it their own.
02:35Well, the shredding continued.
02:36Magnus Culsip went backwards as Louis Verweyker and Xavier Asperin went on.
02:41But really, it was going to be about one man.
02:43He had an idea, a plan to be delivered.
02:46Louis Verweyker kicked on and as the hills and mounds came and went,
02:51he was in charge.
02:53Would he make it home?
02:53That was the big question.
02:55Some nasty turns very late on and, in fact, an eight-second margin with the last 500 meters.
02:59It could still go wrong and it did for plenty of others.
03:02Crash is behind.
03:04The man who would be king.
03:06He was to deliver.
03:07Couldn't believe it.
03:08Ten years since his last win.
03:09Thank you very much.
03:12This is a tough game to play.
03:15We know that.
03:16But what a winner.
03:18I found my place as a really good domestique, I think, for Remco and the other leaders.
03:22And I think this is what I'm doing the best.
03:25But I also just like to attack.
03:26And, yeah, you can see some attacking.
03:29I think it always pays off.
03:30And it sometimes pays off.
03:31And today I'm so happy it paid off, yeah.
03:33Finally, after 10 years.
03:37What a win and what a reward.
03:40Not only the stage, but the red jersey itself.
03:43It just shows you, if you're prepared to dig deep,
03:46sometimes it doesn't result in a hole.
03:49Another day to come.
03:50Can't wait.
