00:00Residents of San Pedro City, Laguna will now help clean up the oil spill in Luzon

00:06through the Cash and Food for Work program.

00:09The details of this were reported by Philippine Information Agency, Calabarzon.

00:16Two weeks after the fire that struck some factories in Barangay San Antonio,

00:22San Pedro City, Laguna,

00:24which resulted in an oil spill, the LGU's cleanup operation was a success.

00:29The Philippine Coast Guard, Bantay Lawa, and other agencies of the government in the San Isidro River.

00:35From January 26, it reached 246,000 liters of oil that was recovered.

00:41Now, only 500 meters of the river is still affected by the oil spill.

00:46To speed up the cleanup, the San Pedro LGU is now implementing the Cash and Food for Work program

00:52to encourage some residents to help with the operation.

00:57We will hire applicants who want to help us with the cleaning operations here in the oil spill.

01:05And then they will receive around 500 per day.

01:10There is an additional augmentation of the team for clearing operations.

01:14It will help our objective to speed up the clearing of the San Isidro River.

01:23For now, it is under control.

01:25The oil spill in Laguna de Bay is not expected to spread.

01:28But there are obstacles, such as garbage, to remove the oil from the river.

01:34We are asking for your cooperation in our cleanup drive because this is for you and for us.

01:42So that we can return the river and avoid throwing garbage.

01:47PCG and LGU assured 24x7 that they are doing cleanup operations in the oil spill area.

01:53The target is to remove the oil from the river within two to three weeks.
