00:00It is not only the safety of the passengers that the Philippine Coast Guard will monitor in the upcoming election.
00:06The agency will also help in the distribution of election paraphernalia in different places in Bicol.
00:12Gary Carillo has news from Radio Pilipinas, Albay.
00:19The Philippine Coast Guard or PCG will send additional floating assets to Bicol Region next week.
00:27But those assets will not be used for search and rescue operations, but for the upcoming 2025 midterm elections.
00:36PCG is one of the bodies of the Commission on Elections or COMELEC
00:40to properly distribute election paraphernalia in different places in the region.
00:46Aside from our existing floating assets, HSRB, the high-speed craft,
00:52however, if we need further air assets, like chopper or our islander,
01:00we can request the higher headquarters and they will provide immediately.
01:04And because Bicol residents are expected to return from Manila and other provinces in the upcoming May,
01:11PCG will be more strict in their surveillance, especially in the suburbs.
01:17Its aim is to ensure the safety of passengers and travelers.
01:22We have more or less a composite of K9 units and our EODs and our personnel.
01:33There are also substations in the area.
01:36And our seaports are monitored 24x7.
01:42This action is part of PCG Bicol's further preparation
01:47to ensure that the election will be proper and peaceful.
