00:00Gosh, we had to say goodbye to Chewy yesterday.

00:04Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos are mourning

00:07the loss of their furry companion.

00:10During the February 5 episode of Live with Kelly and Mark,

00:14the couple shares the heartbreaking news

00:16that their 17-year-old dog, Chewy, has died.

00:20We had a rough night yesterday, a rough day yesterday.

00:25Gosh, we had to say goodbye to Chewy yesterday.

00:30Uh, and you know, you know you're doing the right thing,

00:35and you, you know, the vet was there and was like,

00:39yeah, Chewy had stopped eating for a couple days

00:43and had been eating less and less for the past few weeks.

00:46Um, he was extremely dehydrated

00:49and had some neurological stuff going down.

00:52Kelly and Mark, who were first introduced to the Shih Tzu

00:54during an adoption segment on the talk show,

00:57reflect on how Chewy impacted their family,

01:00which also includes their three adult children,

01:03Michael, Lola, and Joaquin.

01:05We're filled with gratitude.

01:07She gave us so much, you know,

01:09and, and as each one of our kids left for college

01:13and then moved out on their own,

01:15we, Chewy, like, remained right there.

01:19Steadfast.

01:20Stead, like our steadfast companion.

01:23With Kelly going on to detail

01:25the, quote, presidential farewell Chewy got

01:28from their family and friends.

01:30It was, dare I say, presidential.

01:33People came, people like the mail carrier,

01:36people came to say goodbye to Chewy

01:39because she was such a beloved member of the community,

01:43not just, not just our dog.

01:45Our neighborhood, she's like a good neighbor.

01:46She was like the neighborhood dog.

01:47Yeah.

01:48The 54-year-old then shares the touching way

01:51she said her final goodbyes to her furry friend.

01:55She never let us kiss her face.

01:57She was very precious about her face.

01:59Like she would not let, she would not,

02:01she was not a bad dog.

02:05And after she passed away last night,

02:09I kissed her a thousand times on the face.

02:12I kissed her nose.

02:13I'd never kissed her nose before.

02:17And I know that she was like somewhere in dog heaven pissed.

02:22And I didn't care because it just was like so nice to have that.
