00:00The country's inflation remained steady at 2.9% in January 2025, the same as December last year,

00:07according to the Philippine Statistics Authority, or PSA.

00:10Key contributors were food and beverage, housing and utilities, and restaurants.

00:16Some items, like tomatoes and pork, saw significant price increases,

00:20while rice recorded a negative inflation rate of negative 2.3% in the national capital region.

00:26Inflation slowed 2.8%, while Cagayan Valley had the highest inflation at 5.1%.

00:34NEDS Secretary Arsenio Balisacan emphasized that the stable inflation reflects the success

00:40of government programs, with a focus on reducing food inflation.
