00:00U.S. Middle East envoy Steve Whitkoff, who's emerged as a pretty important figure in the

00:07discussions that are taking place in Washington right now and he's worked closely on the ceasefire

00:13deal as well.

00:14Tell us a bit about him and what you think he brings to the table with regards to trying

00:20to resolve this decades-old problem between Israel and the Palestinians.

00:24I think, Tom, that is a very, very important question.

00:29And I did not have the pleasure of knowing Mr. Whitkoff at all, but have watched very

00:36carefully and felt that he's very wisely dealt with the problem in ways that first are based

00:46on promoting compromise and cooperation.

00:52The latest step being the one I just noted of the Israelis agreeing to send a delegation

00:58to Qatar in the very near future to deal with the second phase discussions that will have

01:04to take place if, in fact, this conflict is going to be entered.

01:08But also his development of a relationship with the player in the region that is very

01:14important with Prime Minister Netanyahu and so on, and we'll have to see how and in what

01:20way this negotiating skill...
